the center designated a historic property by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Properties Commission Graduates will be members of the Spirit Square Docent Corps and will be required to volunteer a minimum of six hours a month to conduct tours for visitors and school groups The classes will meet from 9:30 to 11:30 pm Mondays Applications must be accompanied by a $5 non-refundable application fee Applications are available at Spirit Square 110 7th St Details: 372-9664 9 am to 11 pm Mondays through Saturdays "The Children's Theatre (of Charlotte) covers children well so we didn't include that area" said Constance Welsh director of Tarradiddle Players and teacher of three Spirit Square courses "But now that the Mint has stopped classes I don't know of anything outside colleges where adults can learn to act I know from my own experience that actors can never study enough "I taught an adult acting class for professional singers last winter out of my home and thought we might have a course for them Not that they act in a different style but they have to learn to think and move as they sing "We've found a lot of interest In 'Introduction to Acting' from adults who want to find out what the art is about 'At Ease On Your Feet' is aimed at business people or anyone whose living includes speaking or appearing in public They don't have to learn to act but they can feel more comfortable making appearances "We hope to add voice and speech training which the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area also lacks if we can find a specialist who can teach people how to use their speaking voices properly There are no plans yet to add courses in the technical end of theater" r-For More Information-1 ror more mrormatiorr For details and a brochure call 372- 9664 9 am-5 pm Monday-Saturday You can
