Howard street, was a member of a rugged engineer service regiment which celebrated the second anniversary of its activation recently by staging the first reunion of the entire regiment in more than 18 months.

The regiment, which went to England in mid-1942, has spent two British winters in tents while constructing depots, camps, roads, plane runways and hospital facilities on more than 35 projects. HODGE LEARNS TO TOW GLIDERS Assigned to the First troop carrier command, Lt. John H. (Jack) Hodge is now learning to fly the large planes of the unit and to tow the large gliders which bear airborne infantrymen into combat areas. Lt.

Hodge, who is now stationed at Bergstrom field, Austin, recently received his commission and pilots wings at Fort Sumner, N. M. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alice Hodge of the Mound district.

BRADFORD FINISHES BASIC TRAINING Aviation Cadet James Robert Bradford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bradford, 2215 Foster avenue, recently completed basic flying training at Strother army air field, Winfield, and will now be assigned to advanced training in either single-engine pursuit planes or twin-engine bombers. MARIE STONE WINS PROMOTION Marie J. Stone of Ventura has been promoted from second to first lieutenant, the war department has announced.

Lt. Stone serves with the army nurses corps. JENSEN TO RETURN TO OVERSEAS DUTY First Lt. Jerald Bruce Jensen, former Venturan, has left or soon will leave for his second tour of duty overseas, according to a report from his parenfp, Mr. and Mrs.

J. Einer Jensen of Fortuna, Jensen visited with his parents in Fortuna just recently to bid them goodbye. Circling in a silver P-38 over the Jensens home, the army air forces lieutenant dropped a note asking his parents to meet him at the naval air base near Eureka. He flew from Oklahoma City to visit overnight with his parents, using the unique note method to let them know of his arrival. WEIGEL TO TRAIN WITH MERCHANT MARINE Bob Weigel has left Oxnard to begin training with the merchant marine, friends report.

His brother, Edwin, a lieutenant in the army air forces, is stationed at Victorville. The brothers are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. William Weigel of Oxnard.
