Jury Denies Suit Of Vegas Gambler LOS ANGELES (UP) A Superior Court jury has ruled favor of Las Vegas hotelman Bel-don Katleman in a $3 million damage suit brought by a patron vho charged the hotelman held him prisoner for gambling debts. The jury took less than an hour in returning the verdict Thursday in favor of the director of the swank El Rancho Vegas.

The suit was brought by John D. Maher, 44, a contractor. Maher charged that Katleman held him prisoner for 12 hours and slapped him around Aug. 6, 1953, connection with some $400 in worthless checks he had written to cover gambling losses. Knox died Thursday night following a brief illness. He was 57. Knox was stricken with a heart attack Sept. 6. At the time of his death, Knox was president of the state Fish and Game Commission and president of the Southern California Navy League Council.

To Train More Drivers This Year Pomona High School hopes to turn out twice as many competent drivers during this school year as it did in the 1955-56 session with the aid of two new driver-training cars. Murphy Chevrolet 301 N. Garey with the cooperation of General Motors is providing two new Chevrolets for the high school driver-training program which this year hopes to graduate more than 200 drivers compared with some 100 last year.
