manner roodo and wheel games were conducted in view of the 1 public and there were half a d'rcn or more faro games in full blast Not au effort was made to prevent it and in no case was an arrest made Hince then the fsro games have been numerous and bv no means bidden from those wbo sock them lbc majority of people who have been heard speaking about tbe games expressed an opinion that they shonUl Panne the Addcmbly And atiw it teems (hat Jeremiah Lynch who has been chosen to represent Ban Mateo and a small portion of Ban Francisco in th Benate is not above the plane of ordinary mortals notwithstanding he regarded himself (iemiogly) in such position in view of his recent attack on ex-Governor Feikins mention of which baa heretofore been made That such is the case waa amply demonstrated yesterday afternoon in the Senate when Senators McCarthy and Bullivan of Ban Fran-oiaoo made special ploaa that there should at once be returned to the Benate a report from the Committee on Oommeroe and Navigation (of which Lynch i Cbtirmsn) on the subject of the investigation of tb Harbor Commissioner of Bau Francisco Sullivan urged and moved that tbe committee be instructed to report by Wednesday next and this gave riae to a discussion In the course of th debate McCarthy accused Lynch of having been derelict in bis duty as Chairman of the Committee alluded to and asserted boldly that if any blam waa to attach to any one for any shortcoming in tbe way of report not being presented the fault was with Lynch as he had failed to call tbe eomtniUee together in the regular way Tois assertion brought Lynch to bia feet and he mad an ineffectual effort to explain why he had not been able to get a mooting of tbe saving that after it had been announced bv tbe President tbst a meeting would te held more important matters came up and consequently he had thought tbe committee meeting could be postponed Then aroso that "little Hyan of Humboldt who in a vigorous Btauuer (he being a member of the Gmmilteeon Com mere and Navigation too) ssid that Lynch seemed to gather the idea that the whole world nettended ou him aud the passage of his bill in reference to the Ban Francisco Harbor Commission was all that the Loginlature had been called together for He also said that there were other bills the passage of which was more important to tbe Htale and that Lynch was nmlaug a grand buuoonibr effort in bis endeavor to unearth a mystery" Hpcnoer of Napa urged activity on the part of the committee Taylor asserted that if hoking to the intcrem nf a majority of tbe uooHtituents of the several Bi-natora was the matter to be considered then they should follow the wishes of those who bad sent them here and adjourn without the transaetum of any further business He knew that a large ottmbor of tbe people (and re- (toctsbl ones too) were anxious that the legislature should at onoe adjourn take their pay tor tbe full time and go borne 1 he gentleman from Napa (Hpencor) said be has expressed himself as anxious to he put on record He desired to suggest that nslor Hoenccr and all others would have an opportunity to get on record hut let them be snre they were on the right side Bullivan desired fo do everything which a majority of bis constituents demanded and on his making such assertion McClure arose and moved that tho Legislature adjourn i iw iin respect to the wishes of the constituents of the majority party Of course there was mnrh laughter In view of the absurdly the last motion and finally by a vote of 24 ayes to 4 now the committee wsa instructed to report as par Butlivsn's resolution It was evident throughout that Lynch was not be "proper person in the proper plane' and that tiio Benalors so regaidvd with charity for his weakness HOUR SENATE
