asks: Our dining room has a bay window across the front and one regular-sized window on a side wall. Is it correct to use short draperies on the bay window and floor-length draperies on the other one? I would prefer all windows with matching short draperies. E. R. asks: My dining room is long and narrow with a high ceiling and has two floor-to-ceiling windows.

The furniture is mahogany. The rug is foam green. The seats of the chairs are cranberry-red. What color would you suggest for wallpaper? Why not paint the high ceiling the cranberry red of your chair seats and wallpaper the room in a large pattern green and white theres a man in the house he is going to want to he remembered on Fathers day, June 16. She included a Kennedy plaid, a Goldwater stripe and a Rockefeller check. And she is watching Michigan carefully, wondering whether to add still another style.

The stoles were a few of the components (Miss Simpsons preferred word for accessories) selected to be worn with her new costumes in order to acquire the total woman look. Weary of covering her clients from necks to knees only to have them spoil everything with the wrong hats, jewelry and footgear. Miss Simpson this time carefully spelled out the component rules as the manikins demonstrated next years fashion. First came a parade of city swagger suits in textured wools with long shirt jackets; or short-cropped jackets with jerkins, and blouses with big bows or cowl necks. The proper components for these were colored suede knee boots, slouch pancake hats or bag-like toppers (preferably made of chinchilla) and chunky jeweled pins.

After a long boot kick, ankles at last reappeared as the fashion switched to skimming beltless wool and crepe dresses with their own co-ordinates. Simpsons rules for these were quite ordinary shoes and fluffy, fistsized hats. Other high points of the collection included: Classic little brocade suits as weightless as orbited astronauts high-waisted black and white cocktail tresses; a sheer wool dinner gown as loose and comfortable as an old bathrobe; regal-looking floor length brocades with either sable collars or cuffs; of sparkling anthracite black rain coat, and long woolen at home dresses embellished with borders of vari-color beads. But by the time the show had concluded at least one model was back in boots again, glittering rhinestone-studded boots. SKINS Will, SLIP OFF.

M. I. L. Mixing Made Easier. Dear Heloise: For people who like to fix salads such as tuna fish, potato, macaroni, keep a jar of sweet pickle relish on hand and it makes mixing easier.

We also use this on hamburgers and weiners. Just use a teaspoon and mix the salad. Mrs. J. K.

Cleans Cloth With Cleanser. Dear Heloise: For those who still use the old-fashioned dish rags, the last thing I do at night in the kitchen is clean the sink with a cleanser which contains bleach. I do not rinse the dish-rag but leave it in a corner of the sink overnight. The next morning I rinse it and have a bright, clean rag. L.

M. I would like to explain this procedure. A cleanser which says contains bleach contains hydrochloride. Hydrochloride in its way is an antiseptic. She has the right idea.

34x44ft Towels 1 Care of Leather. Dear Heloise: I work in the office of a tannery and the phone rings frequently with peo- file asking advice regarding eather-topped furniture. usually say someone left or spilled an alcoholic drink on 1 the leather table top and it bleached the leather white and yWhat can I do? Or Is it possible to re-dye it exactly? Women might try this: v. Clean the entire top of the fable with saddle soap and let it dry completely. Sparingly, apply a scuff-type liquid polish the affected area, using a color that matches as closely fcs possible.

If it should stain the leather too dark, pour the polish on a clean cloth and lightly coat the entire top of the table, to more-or-less even the color. Another question that comes Jt, is Can I use varnish or similar products on leather table tops? answer to this is no. feather is skin and as such must breathe. It contains fats and oils introduced in tanning processes to keep it glowing and alive looking. These are all that ire necessary to the finish.

a table top has lost its gloss it most likely is dirty. Again, use saddle soap to clean it. It should be cleaned this way at least every six months. Saddle soap contains the essential oils which leather needs. And as a parting word of caution, if you must polish leather for any reason use only leather dressing polishes sold by most better furniture stores Mr.

Leather Cuts Ironing Time. Dear Heloise: One of your readers suggested turning the ironing board broad end to Iron flat work. Tell women not the stop there. This works just as beautifully for mens shirts and blouses down to size 32, and boys shirts. It should work with most bf the straight-cut clothes we wear today.

I actually timed the shirt and blouse routine, using the broad end of my ironing board and cut my ironing time down by almost two-thirds. What used to take me three hours to iron just takes one hour now. Converted Ironer Waxes Dust Pan. Dear Heloise: Take some kitchen floor wax and coat the dust pan. Let dry 30 minutes or ko.

You will find that everything swept into the pan will slide off easily. Helen G. It works beautifully. Heloise Prevents Sticking. Dear Heloise: When forming meatballs put a few drops of yinegar on your hands every so often and the ingredients MARRIAGE LICENSES.
