Wednesday, June 26, 1963 mansion ...the feeling you get when you serve MARCH OF FLUORIDATION—Of the nation's 61 most populous cities, 27 have fluorides added to their drinking water, another has approved fluoridation (Detroit) and five have natural fluoridation (Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Albuquerque and Jacksonville). Addition of fluorides to water is designed to strengthen human teeth against decay. Ncwsmap spots these 61 cities. Those with fluoridation arc named in black boxes. In many cases, total number of persons drinking fluoridated water is greater than the city's population because surrounding suburbs may buy water from the city. For instance, over 3.5 million persons in Chicago drink fluoridated water, plus 300,000 others in 58 suburbs using Chicago water. Detroit will begin fluoridating in 1964, affecting 3.5 million people in the city and 53 suburbs. New York's mayor plans to inaugurate fluoridation before the end of 1963. Over the nation as a whole, more than 51' million Americans in 4,251 communities were drinking fluoridated water at the end of 1962. Of these, 7.2 million had natural fluoridation, 43.8 million had controlled fluoridation. READ THE CLASSIFIEDS! Henderson Area News Topics HENDERSON - Mrs. Ralph Wills and Mrs. Harold Cramer of DeLong went to Macon, Iowa, Saturday to attend the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wardell Sunday. They are Mrs. Wills' cousins. They will also visit with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell, | Mrs. Wills' brother, while there. Mrs. Harold Nelson, postmaster, returned to her work Monday after a week's vacation. Mrs. Harold Erickson relieved her while ahe was gone. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Haskins and family spent Thursday and Friday at the home of Elwin Haskins in St. Louis, Mo. The men are brothers. Fulton GOP Family Picnic Fixed Sunday W. B. Westbrook, chief clerk in the Motor Vehicle Department of Illinois, will be guest speaker Sunday at the family picnic of the Fulton County Republican Women's Club. The event will be held at Epworth Springs Camp Grounds be* tween Lewistown and Cuba on 111. 97 beginning at 1:30 p.m. Westbrook was elected to the state legislature in 1942 and served five terms from the old 51st senatorial district. He was appointed to his present position in 2953 by Charles F. Carpentier, secretary of state. Coffee and iced tea will be furnished at the picnic. Baseball and swimming have been arranged for activities during the day.
