wagon loaded with wood bocame unmanageable at the corner of Front and streets and started to run In turning into street the wagon came near upsetting and the driver leaped from his seat leaving the team to work out their own salvation or kill thomselves in the attempt The wagon righted again and the frightened horses continued up street at full speed When just past Second street the leaders turned short about breaking the pole in two and throwing one of the wheel-horses down Straightening out again however they took up street dragging the prostrate animal and when about opposite hardware store the other wheel-horse fell and both were then piled under the heavy agon in such a way that all who witnessed the occurrence thought they would surely be killed At this point the leaders broke loose from the wreck and flew up the street About midway between Third and Fourth streets they encountered a horse attached to a spring wagon which they proceeded to surround Just before reaching him they drew apart as far as the hurness would permit them and collided witli the horse and wagon with terrible force The horse was knocked down the wagon injured a little and the runaways brought to a stand -still when they were secured The wheel-horses were found to have sustained severe injuries A Leap for We yesterday mentioned the fact that a horse recently stolen from Charles II Shear of this
