Bethune-Cookman College where the school president said his 23-18-1 record over tHe last four years was not good enough get into the (TV) President Oswald Bronson said record in the winning column does not necessarily command the attraction of TV Frazier will remain at the school indefinitely as a physical education instructor Bronson said The athletic council in its intensive review of the football program this month also accused Frazier of using bad judgment in handling team finances Bronson said The council found that on 13-hour road trips to and from Tennessee State in lata October Frazier did not permit the team to stop and eat He also was accused of booking more rooms than necessary for the traveling squad and for making four players share each room at a Nashville hotel leaders NHL leaders Lee Corso whose enthusiasm and dynamic personality won many friends but few football games over the past 10 years was fired as coach Tuesday Indiana University Athletic Director Ralph Floyd said Corso said he was "stunned and sur- A report of the firing stemming from a recommendation to the Indiana board of trustees by Floyd was first made by a Bloomington Ind newspaper Floyd later confirmed in a statement that comprehensive evaluation of the total football program provided a clear indication the time has arrived to make a Corso who was in Fort Wayne to speak at a National Association of Accountants dinner said he first heard the report of his firing on the radio know what was going he said statement released through the Indiana sports information office read in part: the decision is effective immediately the university will honor all financial commitments as required by contract The university deeply regrets the premature publication of the decision before appropriate notification could be made to all parties involved a matter of fact extremely sorry it came out this way We had just completed the process of making a sincere effort to be deliberate to evaluate and to assure careful consideration of alternatives But now that the matter has been made public we of course are not going to deny the report or mislead Corso who grew up in Miami and played quarterback and halfback at Florida State has been recruiting during much of the past three weeks He apparently knew of attempt to oust him but felt the intercession of university President John Ryan on his behalf would be sufficient to keep his job Floyd said Corso who has coached at Indiana since 1973 would be paid for the last three years of his current contract and that a search for his successor would begin immediately Corso 47 has compiled a 41-68-2 record with the Hoosiers including a 5-6 mark this past season recommendation was approved by both the Indiana Athletics Committee and the board of trustees Ryan opposed the firing and secured a rehearing by the Athletics Committee but the faculty group reaffirmed its decision Floyd said For the second consecutive year Nebraska has
