San Da-go, which ended In third place in the regular season standings, defeated the first-place Sacramento Senators 6-4. The game was played at Sacramento. Portland won Its first play-off game from the San Francisco Seals, 4-1, at Seals stadium.

Ted Williams played tne hero's role for the Padres, collecting a triple, a double and two singles in five times at bat. In all the Padres had 15 hits, most of them off Tony Fridas, who lasted five innings for the Solons. Jim Chaplin, Padre hurler, helped his team's cause by hurling steady hall for nine innings, holding the Senators to nine scattered hits. Bill Thomas, Portland mounds-man, gave up but five hits to the Seals. Two of them came In the fifth inning to account for the Seals' lone tally.

Michot comes from a musical family, her father having been a singer of renown. Her musical study was be-yruTi when she was but a girl of five under the tutelage of her father. of lier education was in France, where she had the privilege of studying with such well known artists as Edmond Clement, the great French tenor, with the Russian singer, Felia Litvinne, and with none other than Massenet, who coached her for an appearance in his opera "Manon. Since coming to Hollywood, where her studio is now located, Mme. Michot has had several pupils of distinction.
