Well look around if you Nven't noticed and see how fast kids are maturing today I Puberty seems to arrive as soon as they can spell it Kids who an barely get their noses up to the record racks are making their own purchases and they bring their parents to concerts only because they have to get in While their older brothers and sisters think it's hip to nod out on wine or something else they stay wide awake and big-eyed Who wouldn't pitch singers their own age at an audience like that? 11 IN A TEEN FAN MAGAZINE called "16" David Cassi dy was reported as deeply upset by the introduction of Ricky Segall as the kid next door to the Partridges 4 The implication was Ricky would be moving in as the teenaged Keith Partridge played by Cassidy who's already 23 and nears forced retirement age "That's really swell" Cassidy snarled according to the interview "Did you say he's four years old or four months?" As is the way in such fan mag stories all ends happily as David learns Ricky is being introduced as an addition not a replacement If you want to learn just how young this stratum of the pop music world has become hunt out a newsstand which carries "16" or a companion magazine "Spec" and leaf through the pages Everyone knows about Donny Osmond 14 of the Osmond family group and how they have a crisis in Donny's voice change But did you know that the Jackson Five now are six as Stephen 11 steps in as the youngest a position which used to belong to Michael 14? Did you know Tony De Franco 13 is the youngest member of the De Franco Family quintet but is the lead singer?
