THE EVENING NEWS. I strict Cocet, Virginia. The following business was transacted thia morning before Judge Burbank: Potosi Co. Chas. continued by consent till next term.

State vs. Boss Foulkes continued till next term. Gugnina vs. Herzog trial resumed, defense being heard. Before Judge Mesick Stanchfield vs.

Carville case continued. Hemming vs. Stafford continued. Grainea va. Jones decree ordered entered.

Before Judge Rising Morrill vs. Morrill? cause continued for the tenn by consent. In the matter of the estate of Henry Sherman, deceased, it is ordered that letlers of administration issue to J. H. Otis, upon bis conforming to the requirements of the law.

Bullion Co. vs. Fair view Co. et als? by consent of parties the cause is dismissed as to the Fairview Co. as per stipulation filed herein cause on trial with a special jury.

A Rw.te.? Messrs. Flint 4 of the Washoe Exchange Billiard Saloon, have on exhibition the bairel of the rifle taken on the battle-field at Mud Lake, and being the same that Smoke Creek Sam struck with and broke the arm of a Sergeant in Captain Wells' company. Sam was afterwards sabered by a private in the com- panv and killed, but the Sergeant was taken to Fort Churchill, where he died i from the effects of the injury. Mr. Henry Abbott picked up the rifie.

which was broken at the stock and recognized as Sam's gun, and presented it to the Ex- change as a souvenir of Captain Wells' fight. Astoxishino. Sometimes when people i of good moral character and fine family commit suicide, people are filled with great wonder that such nice people should i seek to leave so fair a place as earth, but when ladies can visit the immense dry goous establishment of Rosencr South street. Virginia, and actually find the polite proprietors, with winning smiles, engaged in disposing of sat- ins. laces, and other man-killing dry goods, at rates unheard of before, we do i not feel at all surprised that they manifest the feeling that furnishes this article with lower case caption.

More Good Ore Yesterday Mr. Otborn. one of the pioneer prospectors of the New Truckee mining district, arrived in Virginia, bringing with him seTeral samples of ore from the Mount Hope, Perley and Valley lead that are richer in silver ore than any we have ever seen out- side of the one ledge." This ore has sulphurets of iron, lead and silver is of a i brown color, and feels like gold coin, on account of its great weight. Assays made a net value in silver of about $2,000 per ton. A New Exportation.

Yesterday we i noticed several large teams loaded to fall capacity with dried hides of cattle, which we presume were en route for California. where already a considerable business is done in tanning, and in a few years the Pacific coast may become independent of eastern industry for a sufficient supply of leather with which to manufacture boots shoes, belting and other articles of daily utility and consumption. A Dwart. Some enterprising chap has got a diminutive specimen of humanity, yclept a dwarf, said to be 13 years of age, on exhibition on south street. Do ten, of the Union, says that the un- gainly beast is worth looking at, while the horrible ot a cracked bsg- pip- blown by a stalwart Frenchman from Dublin, lends additional interest to the show.

Recorder Meagher, Virginia, this morning, had docketed Mother Davis, arrested on a charge of being drunk and disorderly by officers Downey and Clark- son, forfeited her bail. Gillespie, the as- aassiaationisr, will be sent to the County Jail to await the action of the Grand Jury in the premises. Tas Ball of the Passionists Fair last evening was a success, and beauty by the unmeasured quantity thronged the room, with voluptuous movement floated like clouds through the intricate mazes of the dance. That's pretty George. Bet yer life.

Election. At a session of the Virginia Board of Aldermen last night. Win. M. Gillespie was chosen City Clerk, and C.

M. Finley, Tax Collecter. The police appointments were postponed until Thursday evening next. Bits. Considerable money was staked yesterday on the result of the fight between Davis and Dunn, and interested parties are awaiting anxiously news per Overland telegraph.

Tas benefit of Dan Conover, at Lee Rvland's Circus, last night, was a tlatter- ing testimonial to Dan from his numerous friends. ax Pioneer Stages now leave Virginia daily at one o'clock p. and run through on time, and quick time too. Wells, Fargo shipped this afternoon, from their Virginia office, silver bars worth about $40,000. A Ghiat Botcb.

The newsmonger who made up the sensation story about Booth's grave, head and heart, is a botch at the business. He does not know how to make a lie appear plausible. The idea of the existence of grave being kept secret, when score or so of soldiers and others knew of iu existence, is ridiculous. I The enterprising journal which employs the botch should dispense with his ser vices, and get a man who can tell a lie i decently. The bones of a huge antediluvian animal have been excavated by the miners at Murphy's, says the San Andreas Register, the knee joint of which weighs fifty-six pounds.

The other bones are in the same I proportion and shows that a very large species of animals larger than any which arc now known once existed in this country. Tn Courier of San Jose Mrs that the immense value of the New Almaden Quicksilver mine, about twelve miles from that city, may be inferred from the fact that the profits of the mine for fourteen months was one million one hundred and seven thousand dollars in gold and seventy-fire thousand dollars in currency. Chakoixo the They are going to taboo black, in as a color for gentlemen's evening dress. Colored velvets with bright embroidery are to be the genteel thing. In sooth, a male assembly for merriment now much resembles a congress of Tn estimated expenses of the city of for the fiscal year amounts to just about the tame those of Stockton for the last year.

Tkksb droves of California horses from the southern part of the State arrived at Sacramento on Monday. Tn Reese Riverites claim that ile has been struck in the Smoky Tn receipts of Austin city for lMf-6 wan if. Tn tamers in the Sacramento Valley I lo eat their hay, Befcel From the land of Dixie, the nursery of the boasted descendants of the Huguenot cavaliers, comet up the wail of despair from the slavery aristocracy, whose power as a political engine is stifled beyond resuscitation. The lamentation of "no home, no country," is heard on every side, but the honesty of self-recrimination is a virtue they do not possess. The vulgar, low, ill-bred the despised race of mudsills and greasy mechanics, the poor white trash from whom sprang Webster, Seward and Everett, have won the bardfought contest and placed the highest bred gentlemen on earth under the ban of subjugation.

Poor, oppressed Southrons your wail is loud enough to ascend to Heaven, but we fear it will never get through the clouds and fogs that overhang the destiny of all such evil-bom conspir- i acies as your would-be republic. Four I years ago you exhausted your vocabulary of rebel Billingsgate in your abuses of the ablest and best men in the land, the honest and constitutionally chosen rulers of the nation whose only shame was to own you as a fractional part of itself, loday, your arrogance and insolence, that has already been thoroughly humbled, is the scorpion's tail in your mouth, and you are stinging yourselves to death with cor and bitterness of heart. To-day, ninety and nine out of every hundred in 1 your midst are pensioners on the charity of the liberal and lenient Government, which, but for the bravery of our soldiers, the integrity and genius of our general officers, and' the grace of the God of bat- ties, you would have razed to the ground. But your humiliation is and sha'l be a wholesome lesson if you take it aright. Repentance, such as you profess, shows pure hearts within, and with those ele- ments of grace your final return to the National hearthstone is no longer problematical.

The victory we have gained is the victory of right over oppression the mastery of liberty and education over tyranny, ignorance and barbarism worthy of a feudal age. The blackened links are broken, by which you enslaved not only the persons of the black men in your midst, but the rights and privileges of those whom your ribald argot styled 1 dirt-eaters," that is, white men who had to work for their living and enjoy blessings you never knew the blessings the Creator bestowed on sunuy-browed Labor and her hard-handed votaries. All time, till eternity, shall never again be hold the nation cursed with to hideout a blot upon her escutcheon as the barter, I sale and forcible ownership of anything that can talk. Henceforth, should you feel the thrillings of a love for the State on whose soil you first saw the light, vou must seek to ennoble that commu- nity by guaranteeing the blessings of equal rights to the least among you by disseminating the radiant light of popular education through all phases of society and by teaching all men true devotion to the Government that shelters your person and protects your property. And then you may indeed succeed in establishing an aristocracy not of birth and wealth alone, but of intellect, honor and moral worth.

Men of the South, you have much to 1 repent we of the loyal States have as much to forgive. It is useless to indulge in dreary recrimination and bitter fault- 1 Bindings. Our forgiveness shall not be wanting it shall meet your penitence half way on Ma-on Dixon's line, if that only be the last that is heard of that Equa- tor of evil. Let such imaginary lines be broke, and banished forever. We deny the existence of the South as a nation we likewise scout sectionalism in the North America is the name of our nation.

We arc one great common family, bound together by a common language, adoring i the same Creator and looking forward to the same end the re-union of the States and the honor, glory and prosperity of our common country. Sac. Bee. The KrmnrUnblc Properties of Brown's Bronchial Troches hate been thoroughly tested since first Introduced. The demand for them hat stea ily Increased, and purely upon tbelr own merits they have found farer with those who.

from Pulmonary, Bronchial or Asthmatic complaints, require them. For Cnufha and Colds they are efficacious. myl2 NEVADA AAXITAKY PU5D. Events are now transpiring which call for further aid from the patriotic citizens of Nevada, and as the signs of the indicate a termination of our Natioual difficulties, the oncers of the Nevada Sanitary Fund have deemed it advisable to make a srua I call upon the citizens I of our State for the purpose of rendering further aid. and at the same time propose to iasue an elegant Certificate of Membership (which is now being executed) to ail who have heretofore, or may hereafter contribute The object of this call has a triple purpose First? To replenish the Treasury.

Second? To give a token upon which he and those who may follow him will look with pride, as an unmistakable evidence of his or her patriotism and loyalty. Third To gather together upon one record all the names of parties who have contributed, for such future use as may be desired. We, therefore, have set the price of each certificate at the small sum of five dollars, bring- ing it within the ineansof all to receive a lasting token of membership of the Nevada Association, I at the same time asking for such additional con- tributions as parties feel able to make. All persons who at any time have contributed, are requested to forward to either of the officers below named a statement of their contributions the amount and at what time contributed, upon which an examination of the records will be made, and if found correct, a certificate will be issued embracing all amounts in one. Thoee living outside of Storey county are requested to procure a certificate from the President of their respective counties, setting forth the fact that has contributed dollars in eold coin to the Fund of his county, and forward the same to us, upon the receipt of which i a certificate will be made our and forwarded to the President of their respective counties.

Where Benevolent Associations and the Ladles of any city or town have contributed, certificates will be issued to such. It is earnestly hoped that the officers of the Fund In each county of the 8tate, that Ladies in each city and town, and that every individual who baa any patriotism in him, will take an Interest in the matter, and render us all the aid in their power, for the triple purpose above named. Relying upon the patriotism of Nevada, wa hope for a speedy and substantial response. ALMARIK B. PAUL.
