Guests who on Labor day attended Roscoe Arhuckles party, which preceded the death of Virginia Rappe, will get together again tonight to discuss the qualities and the mystery of the source of Roscoes liquor. Tonights get-together will be in the rooms of the federal grand jury, with Robert H. McCormick, special United States attorney general, as host. McCormick announced today that he had determined to require all available witnesses to tell their stories before the federal grand jury in order to perpetuate their testimony. They will be called upon to recount what they know of the presence of liquor at the party and its source.

Arbuckle thus far has merely told the federal investigators that "there was no liquor there, and has stood pat on his right not to talk. McCormick said no indictments would be asked tonight. While federal investigators continued probing the liquor angles of the case. District Attorney Brady had divided his forces into two groups one preparing evidence to present at Arbuckles preliminary hearing Thursday on a charge of the Pasadena in point is in Maryland not California. Baker declared the largest percentage of the law and order guards are on duty protecting oil wells. "We cannot afford to let the fields go unguarded whether we want to or not, he said. Are you going to win the strike? he was asked. Win or starve, he answered. Many Are Deputized Four hundred and fifty strikers have been deputized as constables and patrolled the district today.

Every stranger entering the oil fields was questioned by these men. The constables known as "law and order guards go armed. The experience of newspaper men is typical. On arrival here they are taken before the central strike committee, sitting continuously at Taft, required to prove they are bona fide representatives of the press and if their qualifications are accepted they are given permits to move through the district. At least six men claiming to be newspaper men, have failed to win favor from the committee and have been forced to leave the strike zone.

All roads leading into Coalinga, Taft, Maricopa and the so-called West Side oil fiekis of Kern county are under guard of law and order representatives. Not Asking for Troops SACRAMENTO, Sept. 2 0. The office of Governor Stephens today denied that any request had been made by oil operators that national guardsmen be sent into the Bakersfield strike district. It was at first reported that armed union strikers were patrolling the roads near the strike district and oil companies wanted state protection from the woikers. The policy of the government is to let county authorities control such disputes, the governor's office declared.
