immense lift from two of their other guys A1 Kaline and Bill Freehan are not only meeting the ball with frequency but are hitting home runs again The Tigers who went Into the season with the understanding the Baltimore Orioles were the club to fear have been taking direct action in that department They licked the Orioles in six straight games The Boston Red Sox who have been poking their heads into third place are the surprise team of the league For the first time in a decade they have blended some pitching with their hitting The Red Sox are outhittlng everybody but this season they Miller erstwhile pride of their bullpen His record is 0-4 All this pitching trouble with Brooks Robinson not hitting much is agonizing for the Orioles Cleveland is sticking in there pretty well thanks mostly to its pitching and the batting heroics of Church Hinton who is Manager Joe newest hero But there is one statistic that makes the presence in the middle of the pack a bit suspicious They have been getting fat on a soft diet beating the Senators seven times They show only ten victories against the other eight clubs 1 Kansas City is helping to balance the race with its good pitching Catfish
