Among the many innovations have been a simulated recreation of the mission of Apollo 12 to the moon, an eight-part comedy adventure filmed on the Caribbean island of Curacao, and regularly sched- 1 educational segments for the very young handled in an entertaining way. By TV SCOUT BEST BET-You mav not beUeve this, -but HOWDY, a special from Mildew, is a pretty funny, imaginative with a really star-studded ca.st. At one time it was a pilot for country-western star Ferlin Husky, who is MC and finally gets to at the end, but the series idea has now been dropped.

Too bad. Anyway, billed guests are Glenn Ford, Terry-Thomas, Nanette Fabray and Pat Buttram. Lots of well-known faces are seen in comedy skits (like Sidny Blackmer, Jerome Cowan, Lyle Talbot, Tom Lowell, who was a regular on Combat), and there are bits by Jack Jones and Barbara Eden, who sing the end of a song, Henry Fonda, doing the end of the Gettysburg Address, Phil Silvers telling the punch line of a joke, Jimmy Durante cleaning up ABC, and Eddie Albert and Eva Gabor taking a bow from the audience when they are not supposed to. Seems the folks in Mildew too sharp when it comes to producing specials, and all these latter guests are put on during commercials and station breaks. A special bow to choreographer Miriam Nelson for a fast and furious hoe- number, and to say nothing of Nanette in a soap opera and Terry-'Thomas as a conductor.
