She was a member of the Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Newton, and was a graduate of the School of Nursing at Davis Hospital in Statesville. Surviving are two brothers, the Rev. J. H.

Deal of Nashville, C. Deal of Newton, two sisters, Mrs. Grace D. Cathey and Mrs. Gardner Harvey, both of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the Heart or Cancer Funds. R. L.

HARTSELL R. L. Hartsell of 4410 Woodlark died at home Thursday morning, Feb. 8, 1968. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.

He was a member of Hawthorne Lane Methodist Church and a former member of the Board of Stewards. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Margaret Hazel Litaker Hartsell; daughter, Mrs. W. A. Ranson of Charlotte; son, Robert Lee Hartsell of Charlotte: brother Norman W. Hartsell of Charlotte.

Born Aug. 29, 1886 in Wangarretta, Australia, he was the son of the late Albert W. and Elizabeth Edwards Jones. Mr. Jones was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, a member of Lebanon Lodge No.

7 of Washington, D.C. and the Gold Star Drivers of Carolina Motor Club. He retired Aug. 1, 1967 as an electrical engineer with the Pepsi-Cola Botting Co. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.

Lida Corl Jones: sister, Mrs. Harold Williams of Australia; two brothers, Christopher Jones. Perrin Jones, both of Australia, and niece. Mrs. Robert Morgan of Lampoc, Calif.

Smith University and completed further study at Indiana University, He taught in the public schools of Rock Hill, South Carolina and was a former teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system. At an early age Herman became a member of the Church Street Presbyterian Church of Salisbury, N.

later transferring his membership to the Seventh Street Presbyterian Church, Charlotte, North Carolina, now the First United Presbyterian Church. He had served as a member of the Deacon Board and at the time of his death was a member of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Morton served conscientiously and faithfully in the following organizations; the Church School; the Senior Choir; the Tuesday afternoon Children's Hour, the Boy Scout Troop The Johnson C. Smith Alumni Association, The Swank Club and the Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

He was ried to the former Eloise Florence Walker. They have one daughter, Carolyn Yvonne, He was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by the wife, Eloise; one daughter, Yvonne; his mother, Mrs. Emma C. Morton, Salisbury, N.
