The church at 13th and Streets was designed by architect James Dean and built by contractor Walter Campbell whose successor firms are Tomich and Yee and Campbell Construction Built at a cost of $350000 the church is a well-conceived conglomeration of architectural styles Moorish and Byzantine mostly with dollops of California Mission and Romanesque Its campanile anddome the latter 60 feet in diameter and 87 feet high make the building one of the Capital area's chief landmarks It is at least the fifth meeting place for Sacramento's oldest Presbyterian congregation and one of the oldest in the state The church was founded in 1856 and met in various public halls until a classic columned structure went up at 6th and Streets- in 1867 The second church an elaborate brick Baroque affair at 13th and was home from 1904 to 1927 when it was torn down the church realized $650 from the salvage and sold the pews to the Rio Linda Methodist Church and Carmichael Community Church Sherman Divine mortgages foreclosed Like many central city churches Westminster came on hard times in the 1960s Under Rev William Creevey the congregation has slowly managed to turn things around and is beginning to grow again New members come from the slowly revitalized central city and in 12:30 0 4 (4) NFL 77 (PRE-GAME) 1 MOVIE "'Hey There It's Yogi Bear" 1964 Voices by Daws Butler Don Messick (7) TO BE
