STEWART The administration at Arlington State College will start a self- study program this coming year that will be designed to help the college maintain the high degree of excellence that allowed it to be admitted to the Association of Texas Colleges and Universities as a senior College the first time it tried. Along with the gym, the stadium is being renovated to add more seats, better in plumbing and draining. The additional seats will boost die capacity of the stadium to over 10,000. It was one of the first steps in a master plan to more than double the dollar value of the ASC campus by TEXAN PHOTO. It will also house the administration offices for the dean of the School Arts and Sciences.

Seventeen bids on the construction of a four story men's dorm which can later be expanded to seven stories and a two-story addition to a woman's dorm have been forwarded by ASC to a committee for study. Over 80 per cent of ASC's student body are commuters, living in area towns. Ben Cook, public man, said that an apparent low bid of $1,383,900 would be accepted. Bids on the new library will be accepted either late this summer or early fail with hopes of construction starting before the end of the year. Cook said that an exact cost on the building was unknown but that it would run over 1 000 000 A program of extensive remodeling and modernization will also go into effect next year with the project to run an estimated $100,000.

Also under construction at the school is a powerhouse valued at $750,000 which will be equipped to generate high pressure steam and air conditioning to various buildings on the campus. Plans are to tie each building to powerhouse via a utilities tunnel. The tunnel, which will cost a quarter million dollars, is now under construction. At the present it will connect the east and west side of the campus with electrical service, steam, and chilled water. Money for the building of instructional buildings comes from the Universlcy of Texas Permanent Fund.
