y2 jFS lT -jr V'J-i Oklahoma Takes the Merry Out of Maryland i lie le 1 ivn i -P Terrapins Grab 6-0 Lead Then Lose Their Snap By JIMMY BURNS Herald Sport Editor Displaying more speed than any football team ever seen here Oklahoma Sooners Monday galloped away from Mary-land 20 to 6 after spotting the Terps a touchdown in the second quarter of the 22nd Orange Bowl classic The Sooners might lag behind in a match race with Nashua but you never would comince the record crowd of 76561 spectators plus millions of television watchers that there Is a football team which can outrun the Sooners Maryland's Terps tried it but throughout the second half they were falling far behind and only a late pass interception kept the Sooners from driving on to make their victory' een more one-sided Sooner Speed Blinds Terps IT WAS A GLORIOUS comeback for the speed merchants from the west They re-acted like true champions to the challenges of the Atlantic Coast best team and extended records which hate made Oklahoma one of the powers of football This was their 30th consecutive sictory and the ease with which it was scored once the Sooner machine shifted into high gear makes mockery of the claim Oklahoma prospered because of a weak schedule Oklahoma's emphasis on Minding speed ranged from darting into and ont of the huddle to Car!
