Robert Ray. 306 San Carlos Court, has won first place in the state shorthand contest of the University Interscholastic League Contest in Austin this past weekend. After having first place at the district and regional level events, she captured the top spot at the state level by taking dictation at 100 words a minute for five minutes, transcribing with 100 per cent accuracy, according to her teacher at MHS, Mrs. Gail Burdine, who accompanied her to Austin. The installation of new officers and presentation of the TSTA scholarship in memory of longtime Irving teacher, Mrs. Lois Hamilton, highlighted meeting of the Irving unit of Texas State Teachers Association at Irving High School. New officers installed in a candlelight ceremony by Tom Morris, social studies coordinator for the Irving public schools, are Mrs. Ann Clifton, president; Brooks Teague, president elect; Mrs.
