two quick fourth period touchdowns to gain a 35-14 win over the California Aggies yesterday afternoon before a sparse crowd of 2857 in the 5th annual Boardwalk Bowl football game Playing on the indoor Convention Center turf Massachusetts appeared to have a rout in the making when the Minutemen roared to a 20-0 lead in the second period only to have the Aggies come back with one score before the half and another in the third period to cut the count to 20-14 However reserve quarterback Mark Tripucka took over for Peil Pennington at the beginning of the fourth quarter and directed a 65 yard scor Dakotans Give Thanks For Camellia Win ing drive which ended with running back Paul going off tackle for 12 years Tripucka then hit Tim Berra with a two point conversion pass for 28-14 Two minutes later defensive back Bob Parrott intercepted a Bob Biggs pass and streaked 60 yards down the sideline for the clinching touchdown The day was one of frustration for the All-America Biggs who had four of his passes picked off despite his collecting 388 aerial yards on 27 completions in 60 attempts The yardage was a college division playoff record although Biggs threw for 399 yards in a Far Western Conference game However Biggs was forced to continually scramble and was unable to hit with the accuracy that earned him the college division passing yardage title and carried the Aggies to a 6-1-2 season record entering the game Four times during the contest the Aggies moved inside the Massachusetts 20 only to fail to score each time Twice Biggs had TD passes taken away when his receivers caught the ball just out of bounds in the end zone Biggs performance overshadowed a fine running show by the 5-11 195 pounds Metallo who rushed for 129 yards on 24 carries The Minutemen wasted little time in establishing their superiority over the FWC champion Aggies bursting See l'age F4 Col 5 I I tp: i'4 l-- 16y 1 P-4 k-a-t '11 I 1) 1: :04 (4 i 6 amenN gar By Don Bloom University of North Dakota
