PAGE EIGHT CAPE FEAR NEWS WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22, 1916. "Ballots for Both" New Pa. Woman Slogan (By International News Service.) Williamsport, Nov. -With nearly 50 women in attendance the annual convention of the Pennsylvania Woman suffrage association opened here today.

Dr. Anna Howard Shaw is one of the notable national suffrage workers in attendance. Prominent state leaders include Mrs. Gifford Pinchot and Miss M. Carey Thomas, president of Bryn Mawr college.

The principal business of the convention is the planning of the fight before the next state legislautre for another referendum on the suffrage amendment. The legislative committe conducted an active pre-election campaign and reported they have pledges of support from a large perof legislators elected at the centage recent election. It was announced at the opening session today that the slogan of the Pennsylvania suffragihas been charged from "votes for sts women" to "ballots for both." The convention will close Friday. Funeral services of Deputy Sheriff Dees, who was shot and killed 1 by negro Sunday night, were held at Rockfish Baptist church yesterday afternoon. A large crowd attended the funeral which was conducted by Rev. McLeod and Rev. Townsed. Woodmen of the World had charge of the funeral service which was conducted along the rites of that fraternal organization.
