CHORUS GIRLS IN STERLING PLAY Laura Dickerson, Rhonda Pierce and Nancy Dickerson Library Lines By AUDREY MAESER Director of Reader Services Sterling Municipal Library Did you ever have a day that when you reflect on it just boggles the mind? This past Tuesday was that kind of day for me. It started out well planned.

I would do my regular radio show. I'd return home. A friend would pick me up and off we'd go to Houston to finish odds and ends of Christmas shopping. Jauntily I entered the station. Something seemed different.

I shrugged, it off until Ronnie entered the studio and said, "'Uh, I'll put you on but you might be interrupted today." I brightly replied. Then he explained that Humble had received the threat that bombs had been planted and the first one was expected to blow at 9:45. Ronnie was telling me this at 9:43 a.m. What does one do? We chattered and, inwardly, had a few thousand thoughts about "how does one react to this kind of threat?" 'Pickwick Papers' Set For Dec. 18 "Pickwick," a lavish ninety- minute color musical based on diaries Dickens' "The Pickwick Papers," makes its Houston television premiere at 6:30 p.m.

Dec. 18 on Channel 11. Produced in Ixmdon by the BBC, "Pickwick" continues the successful musicalizations of Dickens' works which began with "Oliver!" winner of eight Academy Awards as a film. "Pickwick" in its stage version ran for two years on the stage and toured the United States for ten months before being adapted for television. The TV version stars Harry Secombe (Britain's leading musical comedy star) in the title role he originated on the stage, and Roy Castle familiar as a frequent guest on the Ed Sullivan Show as Sam Wellcr, Pickwick's trusted "gentelman's gent." Music includes the song "if I Ruled the World" (already a popular hit) and the big holiday opener "That's What I'd Like for Christmas." Score is by Cyril Ornadel, long-time contributor to Walt Disney films, and lyrycs are by Leslie Bricusse, whose "Tale to the Animals" won him an Academy Award for his work in "Dr.

Doolittle." Focus On Entertainment DON'T WALK RENT-A-CAR AS LOW AS 5.00 PER DAY COURTESY FORD 1801 Decker Dr. 422-8121 Nine-forty-five passed and no explosion. At nine-forty-seven, Ronnie introduced me with his usual "Good-morning Audrey." My book for the day was titled "Family" by Margaret Mead. The theme of the book is that families are the same the world over. A mother in Guata- mala and a mother in Denmark are shown caring for their babies and pictured are the same love and concern.

They could be sisters. Margaret! Mead stresses that in today's world men must learn to survive together or we'll perish together. I was glad that I'd chosen that book on that particular Tuesday. With all due respect, I believe that I delivered that talk like a Baptist preacher. Expecting every minute to hear a loud explosion, I put my heart and soul into that book's message.

Now I'm more convinced than ever, that we need to communicate, and that the library must be a vital and stimulating center for each and every citizen of our community.
