You're making a big fuss over something I was in no way to blame for I can't understand it Mrs Gifford" Then Lora walked over to her employer and said quietly: "Perhaps you'd like me to quit" "Oh no Not that" "Well I will if you continue to be so unreasonable" Mrs Gifford sat down CAROL UPSET HER "I'm upset" she said "I've been so nervous since I learned Carol is coming nome" "I should think you'd be very happy about it" Lora told her "Why should that upset you?" Mrs Gifford looked up quickly "Oh yes" she said "I forgot Mr Hall the apartment manager told me Bill Trumbo the maintenance man complained about you He says you have been tclephoning him constantly and interfering with his work" seems a very dependable boy" "All right" Lora said angrily "We'll see" She picked up the kitchen telephone "What are you doing?" Mrs Gifford asked "I'll show you" The girl at the office answered the call "May have I ever called Bill Trumbo since I've been here?" Lora asked holding the receiver so Mrs Gifford could hear the answer PROOF "I'll check" the girl repliel "We log all maintenance calls I have the record right here" There was a pause "No There have been no calls to maintenance from 603 for a month" was the reply Lora said thanks and banged down the receiver "How stupid can Mr Hall be?" she demanded 'lie has his own house records showing Bill Trumbo lied yft he would complain to you without looking at them (CONTINUED TOMORROW) DOWN 1 Idolizes 2 Fasten again 3 Plural ending 4 Catnip 5 Street urchin speak the language That's one course I couldn't get at night school" Lora explained ASKS AGAIN -I'd sure like to have you come back I miss you a lot Lora" "When I return from the trip I might consider it Not now" "That's final?"
