An article which appeared in The Avalanche-Journal Sept. 12, concerning the ambulance service's financial difficulties, prompted the town's 450 citizens to raise the funds. Mrs. Dorothy Rasherry, president of the Ropesville Ambulance Service, said the townspeople really came through in September.

"The donations started pouring it to City Hall the morning after the article appeared in the A she said. In the Sept. 12 article, Mrs. Rasberry had spoken of the need for (he community to realize that the service needed their support and said she was experiencing difficulties in raising funds for the vehicle from the community. In that story, Mrs.

Rasberry had said, "I really know the community wants it (the ambulance); if only they would realize what it would be not to have it in case of emergency." "The people of Ropesviile really worked hard to raise the money. We conducted a very successful garage sale here in September and received as much as $50 in individual donations," she said. Mrs. Rasherry said apparently most persons in Ropesville just didn't know that the service was in financial trouble "Many told me they thought the ambulance was paid for," she added. Those who have donated to the ambulance will receive an opportunity to win quilt, made by the senior citizens here.

Names of donors will be placed in a pot for the Oct. 18 drawing, to be held at the Senior Citizens Club here. Funds for the service will be used to cover ambulance payments, which are $H9 a month. Ropesville citizens say, "We'll continue to back our service; and anytime it needs anything, it can count on us."
