"It was the greatest Achievement Day that I've seen in 15 years of leading Brownwood delegates to the big event," declared Cecil Holman. NAACP picketing at the fail- failed to interfere with the enthusiasm of the local group to get into the fair grounds, and likewise did not prevent this year's "Negro Achievement Day" attendance from going ahead of that in 1954 by a substantial margin.
