Or do -you think salt and pepper and vinegar would be better still? just been wondering Not that he thinks he is going to have to eat his words newsprint and all after the Miami All-Stars the team selected from the Dade County Baseball League by you folks finish the two-game series with the Daytona Beach Islanders of the Florida State League this afternoon and Monday night at Miami Field No indeed Ev think going to have to consume several piles of Heralds But no harm he opines in finding out hat would be the best way to eat papers just in case All summer long you see we have been blowing and bellowing about what an all-star team from the Dade County League could do to a Florida State League club And so this afternoon the Islanders are coming to town to find out about these doings Lookouts the State League champions were originally booked to play here this afternoon and Monday and Tuesday nights But the Albany Cardinals Georgia-Florida League winners flatly refused to rearrange the series with Sanford for the Southeastern Class championship and so the Lookouts must play this afternoon in the Georgia city If ho other difficulty arises they will appear here Sunday afternoon October and Monday and Tuesday 1 nights October 2 and 3 Daytona Beach was runner-up to Sanford in both the regular season and the Shaughnessey plgyoff The Islanders lost the fifth and deciding game of the playoff finals last Sunday at Sanford when rain interrupted play in the first of the sixth inning with the Lookouts out front 3-2 From all accounts the Islanders are a powerful crew They led the league in team batting Joe Niedson who plays in the outfield broke the circuit record for doubles with 45 and set a new season home run mark of 11 He batted 299 Ernie Stefani the -third baseman hit a neat 321 And Freddy Leonhardt the first sacker who is famous for clouting the When he comes back to the dugout after flying out he always reports was a good hit but it was right at Daytona Beach seems well fortified for pitchers too A rookie southpaw from Detroit Wild Will Colone seems to be quite a mound prospect This is his first year in pro ball He beat Sanford twice in the Shaughnessey playoff He won 18 and lost 8 during the regular season and had an earned run average of 288 Blix Donnelly is the ace however a big righthander from Olivia Minn and won 19 and lost 4 this year Joe Shroba a six-foot 190-pounder is also right handy with his right hand He was out six weeks of the season with an appendectomy but finished up with 13 wins 7 losses and an earned run average of 239 Bill Leitz
