Causes Henley vine Man To Shoot Himself Minas Coroner Buries Victim Of Supposed Accident QUINCY (Plumes Co) Sept 26 The body of an unidentified man was buried here yeerday in the county cemetery by Coroner Moody The main was found at the foot of a thirty-foot bluff from which he had apparently fallen on the east branch of the North Fork of the Feather ftiver near Paxton He was Shabbily clothed and wore no hat nor Coat He was about 60 veers of age There was no mark of identification on his person and the contents of his pockets were but 150 cents It is thought that he died of exposure after being stunned by the fall front the bluff No Clues Found Sheriff A Braden who went to the scene when summoned by Solon Luzzader of Paxton and Coroner Moody searched the surrounding country for traces :2:: 11144 IS Bear Slim Self Defense Story Probed CORNING (Tehama Co) Sept 26-170 Wain Zielke 39 prominent rancher of the Henleyville district west of this city committed suicide early this morning by shooting himself through the head with a 22-caliber revolver Despondency over financial difficulties and the deathof his wife Mrs Emma Zielke about two years ago and the death of his mother a few months ago is believed to have prompted the act Shot Not Heard Zielke is believed to have shot himself about 5 o'clock this morning just outside the window of his father's room from which he had obtained the revolver The shot was not heard by the father and it was not until Zielke was missed at breakfast time that a search was started and the body was found outside of the house The deceased is survived by his father A Zielke and four daughters Martha Ruth Juanita snd Patricia Zielke and one brother Leonard Zielke of Red Bluff Arrangements for the funeral have not been made HOMECOMING that the place had been robbed and the money box stolen Deputy Sheriff George Dobyns was called and in thirty minutes had the money and the suspected robber Harry Fanning a former employe at the cafe Dobyns went to Fanning's home in the Cornell addition routed him out of bed and told him to give up the box and $630 in change which i contained At first he denied any knowledge of the robbery When informed that the fingerprints of the man who had done the Job had been taken and it was the deputy's intention of taking his prints Fanning laughed and told Dobyns: "You can't fool me with that stuff facing a second court battle as a result of the alleged illegal ousting of Mrs Frances Hesse Clark of Corning as one of the teachers in the school with the filing here yesterday of the action of Mrs Emma MrPhee a taxpayer of the Moon District who seeks an injunction against the trustees to prevent them from paying Matthew Rumbolz Mrs Clark's successor his salary Mrs Clark filed a mandamus nroceedings against the trustees on September 18th to force the trustees to reinstate her to the position from which she claims she was illegally ousted The hearing on her petition he been set for and Shoshone lidians stole the' horses of the party Glenn trailed them catching up to them a few hours later Battled Indians The band consisted of ten Indians well armed with rifles while Glenn had nothing but a revolver Taking a position behind a big boulder Glenn exhausted his ammunition and the Indians were closing around him when the remainder of his party came up to drive thorn away During the time that Dr Glenn owned the 65000 acres in California he was known as the "Wheat King of the World" He was not only a wheat grower but owned a huge ranch in Oregon where one year he sold 15000 cattle He also owned a ranch in Nevada used for the raising of stock This ranch he later sold to Miller Lux et a sum reported to have been over $400000 Fittaliv Shot In February J883 Dr Glenn was fatally shot by his secretary Huruni Miller For a short time after his death the farm wits operated by the administrators but this was soon given up and it was broken up and sold in small parcels A great part of the Glenn Grant was purchased by the Sacramento Valley Irrigation Company and subdivided in later years Mrs Glenn survived her husband for several years dying in September 1891 Placer grower in an answer filed yesterday to a suit for non-delivery of raisins brought recently by the pool in the superior court After denying the pool's charges that he failed tn deliver fifty tons of raisins to the pool Herman charges that: 1 The California raisin pool did not 8eetire 85 per cent control of the raisin acreage of the state as the contract specified but fraudulently represented to the federal farm board that it h9d said control 2 Herman signed his contract with the pool on false representations that Arakelian a prominent grower had signed a similar contraet 3 The pool's agreement to sell and account for raisins as rapidly as possible and make payments to groweis areordingly the final payment on December 31et for the preceding year's soles has been violet ed insofar as the 1930 crop Is concerned 4 Stabilization fees of $525 per ton for reisine collected and paid to the raisin pool and the California grape control board of San Francisco for purposes of stabilising on the banks of the Sacramento River at Jacinto fourteen miles from Willows is one of the showplaces of Superior California This is the historic mansion of Dr Hugh Glenn after whom Glenn County was named and is yet in the poesession of Mrs Ella Glenn Howard the only surviving child of Dr Glenn Town Fading Away While the old historic town of Jacinto is fast crumbling away with age the beautiful with its stately majeatic trees most of which were planted by Mrs Glenn has withstood the ravages of time in a remarkable manner ThF? houkie itself is a rambling story-and-a-half mansion part of which was built in Virginia and shipped eround the Horn in the early Fifties and erected in Jacinto Soon more room was needed and by 1872 the present home consisting of eighteen rooms was completed The rooms are filled with furniture and kiepsakes Of Dr and Mrs Glenn It has been the idea of Mrs Leonard to preserve the home as much as possible as it was in the early days Donates To Museums During the past few years Mrs Leonard has greetly added to the collections of California museums and has given many articles to the Sutter's Fort in Sacramento and the de Young Museum in San ITancisco At the present time she is preparing a number of articles for display in Sutter's Fort Among them are old dresses and shawls of her mother which she wore while coming to California A quilt cover made from a silk dress purchased in New York in 1851 by Dr Glenn and presented to hie wife will also be donated to the fort Jacinto in those days was a teeming metropolle before the railroad was built through the
