Deputy Commissioner of Insurance Sherwood Brockwell went to Greenville today to investigate the plans for a $40,000 public school building to be erected there, the purpose being especially to see about the possibility of incorporating the new double tower outside stairways for fire protection. There is every indication that this change will be made in the plans. Commissioner of Insurance James R. Young is conferring now with the school authorities of Sanford with a view to adopting the double tower outside for a $30,000 building to be gotten under way at once. The commissioner says it is most gratift-is to him that school authorities the state over are coming to realize the importance of this feature of fire protection for school buildings.

General Young says arbitrary exactions by the retiring secretary of war have made it especially hard to maintain the guard in this state in conformity with requirements, which Mr.
