led by George Winslow 'of the State Highway Commission was so strong that it could not receive complete ratification The report according to Assistant State Engineer Norboe who acted as Secretary last to-day and found out that Herbert Woodall returned soldier of the 91st Division will not lose his property at 2780 Forty-second Street because of an order to sell it for delinquent taxes Through a misunderstanding in the Soldiers and Sailors Civil Rights Act It was thought yesterday that Woodall would lose his property unless his delinquent taxes for 1918 were paid by July let Affidavit Not Filed Woodall was in the army during 1918 and he did not worry over his taxes as he thought he was protected by the Civil Rights Act Some person should have filed an affidavit showing he was in the retary of the California Grape Pro tective Association Stoll said: As a matter of fact we have already been notified by twenty-nine County Clerks that they have ex amied our petitions and found 38616 isignatures against the measures "sufficient" The petitions will be put on the ballot in November 1920 in spite of the untrue rumor that the petitions are imperiled because County Clerks are refusing does not have to stand any penalties or redemptions for the delinquencies but only pays 6 per cent interest on the amount he is taxed District Attorney Bradford made out an affidavit for Woodall which was turned in to Ryan and states that if a proper one is turned in by others in the same position as Woodall everything will be all right for the six months Limitation Pieced Woodall's exemption does not apply to soldiers who have property rented and have no dependents or those who have plenty of money to pay the taxes Tax Collector Ryan thinks there are more soldiers who will face the same predicament as Woodall did and they should have the matter attended to He states the service men who do not have propeNy assessed over 65000 and who desire to get exemption on $1000 assessed property
