ofAesemblymen Merritt of Churchill Drysdale of Storey Cose of Lincoln Hacker of Nye and Byington of Virashoe to investigate the charge made by the Goldfield and Ely newspapers that certain I Assemblymen are having their expensis paid by a corporation The Committee will also invesl-tigate a charge made that this corporation influenced Assemblymen to vote against the formation of the new County of Comstock to be formed by the consolidation of Storey and Lyon Counties Saturday afternoon the Assembly passed the new civil code and It has gone to the Senate where it may receive minor down in all directions and it is difficult to form any estimate of the damage done Between French Gulch and Weaverville there have been many washouts of the roads and large treer have been blown down blockading the highway so that a large force of men and teams has been put at work cut- ting away the trees and clearing the toads It took eight men and sixteen teams twenty-seven hours to break a road through the snow on- the road from this place to French Gulch a distance of eleven miles so the mail coach could get through The mail will make a trip to-day There is no snow at either this place or French Gulch but at the summit six miles from here the snow is six feet deep and in all there is a stretch of but six miles In which the snow was so deep me to make the work of breaking the road of the sour Washoe County stockmen The young Indian woman bas constantly refused to talk since her confinement in the County Jail and for the first two days remained under the bed in her cell most of the time A Shoshone squaw was put in the cell with her but she could understand very little that the Shoshone Indian had to say and refused to talk Talked With Reddington Saturday evening Colonel Redding-ton who speaks Bannock as well as Shoshone was put in the cell and talked with her for some time She would not discuss the battle or the murder of the stockmen but stated that her father had held a grudge against the white men for fifty years since the battle of Bear River when he and a brother were the only survivors of the battle She stated that he was a Shoshone and that her mother was a Bannock Both her father and mother were killed by Captain Donnelly's men Her Father Made 'Arrows 1 Her father's name was Rock Creek Mike and he lived on Rock Creek in northern Elko County most of the time when not out on hunting trips through Northern Nevada and California Her father was on of the last Indians knowing the art to make flint arrow heads and it is possible that this art died with him He had learned this from his grandfather and was noted among his people for his skill Some Of theee beautiful flint arrow heads were used in the recent Indian battle and ara now in the possession of the members of the posse Agree on Story Captain Donnelly and the members of the posse who arrived in Reno Saturday morning all agree on the story of the battle On the morning of the battle Captain Dusneny who had spent the night at a farm in northern Humboldt County was not with the party but was about a mile and a quarter behind the posse when the fighting commenced and did not reitch the seen
