Caton was honored as "Sheriff of the Year" Tuesday by the Indiana Sheriffs' Association for his supervision of emergency operations during the Palm Sunday tornadoes. Elkhart County was hardest hit of 14 counties in which persons were killed in the series of storms last April 11. There were more than five tornadoes in the pne county and 49 persons were killed and many injured. Officers elected at the three- day convention included Clarence R. Dmoret, Montgomery County, president; Michael Truchan, Lake County, first vice president; H. D. McCann, Wayne County, second vice president; Frank E. Carpenter, DeKalb County, secretary, and Frank F.
