mcjwmot ILE HHIIII Son of Chain Store Owner Is Killed On Vacation In Florida tlY THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ORLANDO Fla Jan Van McCrory 32 of Ridgewood son of John McCrory five and ten-cent store magnate was shot and killed In a hunting accident near his ranch in Orange county late today He was shot by Raymer Ma- guire prominent Orlando attorney and close friend of McCrory according to officers who investigated The accident occured while the two were hunting deer on horseback In the southeastern part of the county officers learned A shotgun in the hands of Maguire was discharged In some manner Its load taking effect in McCrory's back Death followed within a few minutes from what was described as internal hemorrhage when number of shoV penetrated a 'lung After investigation officers said the shooting was clearly an accident and no Inquest would be held Maguire was prostrate with grief and shock at his home tonight and members of his family said he would make no statement until tomorrow the Charlie Birger gang of southern Illinois gunmen' were sentenced ft) life Imprisonment this afternoon by Circuit Judge Hartwell for the murder of Mrs Ethel Price who with her husband State Highway Patrolman Lory Price was kidnaped and killed two years ago The four are Art Newsman chief lieutenant of Birger Leslie Simpson Freddie Wooten and Riley Simmons In addition to the life sentence each was sentenced to serve years In prison for conspiracy to murder Mrs Price and also 57 years in prison for conspiracy to murder husband Under these sentences which were recommended by State Attorney Roy Browning none of the four will be eligible for parole for fifty-eight years- All four had pleaded guilty to the murder of Mrs Price and the sentencing followed a hearing gt which all four testified Browning had made ah agreement with defense attorneys to recommend that none of the four be sentenced to death but that all be given life Imprisonment Mr and Mrs Price were seized in the Illinois home
