magnificent hotels apartment office building and residences In this section of Florida and he i known for the high standard of work which he has set in these various jobs He designed the stately Granada Apartments in Fort Dallas Bark which were constructed at a cost of $500000 He also planned the Hotel Bancoast the $50000 structure on Ihe Ocean Front at Twenty-ninth street Miami Beach In addition to these he designed the Coral Gables country club and the golf and country club building at Hollywood Fla the Community theater and Helene Apartments at Miami Beach IN the office building line hq designed the Professional building on Second avenue and the Congress building a block south on the same thoroughfare and In which Mr Hampton has his office Mr Hampton a South Carolinian wa born at Laurens August 3 3890 and is the scion of an illustrious South Carolina family When he was 10 years old he removed to Charlotte where he was educated in schools and in the Charlotte Military Institute Mr Hampton journeved south to Columbia in 1932 and there undertook hi first real commission which comprised the planning and designing of the Jefferson Hotel built in 1912 at a cost of $3U0 0U0 He remained there until 1914 when ws work so much so that Roger Bab-kion when he was here about four years ago said "You bate the second If not the first chamber of commerce In the United States
