Fere at Cold Stream Causes Slight Damage PHILIPSBURG A fire believ ed caused by a short in a neon sign at the William Giistafson prop erty near Cold Stream, Philips burg, caused minor damage to one corner of the establishment Wed nesday night a' about 11:20 o'clock The fire was discovered by Sgt Victor Fleck, borough policeman who was on patrol at the time. He immediately sent in the fire alarm and notified the owner of the prop erty. Fire Chief Richard Fry said damage was only slight.

Hendricks, 11-known Altoona physician and retired Army brigadier general, was 1 elected illustrious potpntate of Jaffa Temple, Arcienf Arabic Order of Nobles of UIP Mystic Shrine, at the annual meeting Thursday night at Jaffa Mosque.

Ho succeeds State Sen. Arthur E. Kromer of Punxsutawney. Dr. Hendricks was advanced from the office of chief rabban.

Hendricks was graduated from Bolivar i School and Bolivar Academy, where he was active in sports. He continued his education at Allegheny College, Meadville, where he was an outstanding athlete and was graduated from the'University of Pittsburgh in 1915 with an M.D. degree. Dr. Hendricks, who specializes in gynecology and obstetrics, is actively engaged as associate in gynecology and obstetrics at Mercy Hospital, Altoona.

The new Potentate served ac- tn ely in the Pennsylvania National Guard from 1912 until 1948, through all grades from private to brigadier general, in the medical corps. Following service of 18 months in the-Mexican border campaign in 19-6 and 1917 as a first lieutenant and assistant surgeon in the 18th Infantry, he continued on active duty for three in World War as major surgeon of the lllth Iifantry 28th Division. Dr. Hendricks' service during World War II totaled five and one-half years. For 18 months he commanded 103rd Medical Regiment and was division sur; on for the 28th Division with rani- of colonel.
