with three of our beloved members to whom she belonged by the sacred ties of motherhood Thus the death of this member seems to come even more closely to this chapter than those who have been called before live in hearts we leave behind is not to Today we know that her influence remains with our chapter manifested through those daughters she has left behind to live and work with us I move that family (Signed) Mrs Frissell February 2 1918 HOTEL HALCYON MUSIC THIS EVENING Commencing at 8 the music at Hotel Halcyon tonight will be as follows: Adagio cantabile from minor sonata Richard Strauss Leoncavallo Spangled Under direction of Edwin White local A assisting in organizing the auxiliary Mrs Chaille was chosen temporary -chairman Mrs- James Jackson was made president of the auxiliary There will also be two vice-presidents from each chur(fli in the city including the 'Catholic and Jewish churches The auxiliary will meet Monday night at the club for the purpose of appointing committees and later will make a campaign for members The qualifications will be the payment of annual dues of $100 which wdll be used for furnishing the banquet hall with silver linen and china The auxiliary will aid the A in its work particularly in the social part of the work and will have charge of all its banquets and formal entertainments It will have charge of the splendid banquet hall on the second floor of the A Unusual Dress For omen and Misses FRIDAY NIGHT MEETING OF ST GUILD St Guild met Friday evening at 7:30 Owing to the installing of the new pipe organ they could not use the Guild room and gladly accepted Mrs kind n-vitation to meet at the rectory They gathered around the table in the living room and were busy until quite a late hour getting their many business affairs in shape not' forgetting to keep their fingers busy with the work of the bazaar The Guild were delighted to welcome two new members Miss Emmaline Lowe and Mrs Hed-ley This Guild has a membership of about thirty and there are only about five who have not responded with a donation to the bazaar and we still have ten days in which to hear from them St Guild feels proud of their members and the collection of pretty things which are also useful they have made and had donated and want their many friends to remember and visit them pier 11 and 12 when they will take part in the annual meeting Fri-day the Southside Miss Areta Baker of Scranton Pa has arrived in Miami and will be the guest of Mr and Mrs Guthrey 205 Fifth street the remainder of the season Miss Baker who spent the year 1913-14 in Miami is a for the Magic City and succeeded in bringing to one of the hotels quite a party of visitors who are seeing Florida for the first time and who left their snow-clad homes with intention of wintering at Daytona She expects to have her parents join her before another winter to make their permanent home in the City of Sunshine in which she has noted so many improvements in the three years which have elapsed since her former residence here Miss Mamie Golden of Rochester New York who has been spending a well-earned vacation of a month with her aunt Mrs George McGuire of Point View and who has been most royally entertained by members of the I and the three young sons and daughters reluctantly terminated her visit to Miami on Thursday last once more to resume her duties with the following: Peanut Loaf: 1 cup chopped peanuts 1 cup boiled rice cup bread crumbs 1 egg to mix 2 tablespoons minced onion Mix the above ingredients with the beaten egg bake and baste with drippings and water Any left over potatoes or cereal may be substituted for rice Serve with tomato or green pepper sauce using cream sauce for the foundation Baked Cowpeas and Cheese: 1 tablespoon fat 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion 1 tablespoon chopped green pepper 2 cups cooked cowpeas cup grated cheese Put the peas through a meat chopper or sieve and mix with the cheese Cook the onion and pepper in fat being careful not to brow it and add to peas and cheese Baste with fat and water bake and serve hot or cold as a substitute for meat Cheese Patties: 1 egg 1 cup fine bread crumbs 1 cup grated cheese teaspoon salt and pepper Beat egg white very stiff and stir the crumbs cheese and seasonings Shape into balls roll in beaten egg yolk and crumbs and brown in drippings Arrange in a pile on platter and dust with grated cheese MEETING OF EVERGLADES CHAPTER A At a called meeting of the Board of Management of the Everglades chapter A which met at Mrs yesterday resolutions of sympathy were passed on the announcement of the death of one of the members Mrs Amanda Crozier Carr mother of Mrs Gratigny and grandmother of Mrs Bouldin and Mrs Mann wrho are also members of the Everglades chapter Other business transacted was the selecting of the names of the French orphans to be adopted by the chapter A girl and boy the name of the girl selected is Suzanne Chedeville and the boy whose name is Maueice Guignard are to be cared for by the chapter They voted to present two flags to the Highland Park school also for a day when the chapter are to meet for an all day work at the Red Cross roms the day to be decided later The chapter is to order one thousand Red Cross thimbles to be sold by the chapter ladies the proceds to be given to the Red Cross The regent announced that Man Without a was to be shown at the Paramount theater under the auspices of the A the proceeds to be devoted to war relief work The annual patriotic memorial to commemorate birthday are to be held February 24 The chapter also voted for the regent to extend an invitation to the State A conference to meet with the Everglades chapter next year at their annual meeting The resolutions of sympathy on the death of 1918 brings to the Everglades chapter a special feeling of loss and sadness As a chapter we have taken pride in mentioning Mrs Carr as one of the two real granddaughters among our members and we have often been inter- ested in the presence at our meet-j MERCY WARREN CHAPTER MEETING YESTERDAY Mercy Warren Chapter A met yesterday at the home of Mrs Joseph Cheatham with a good attendance of children and Mrs George Romfh Mrs George Reid Mrs Everest George Sewell Mrs McIntyre Mrs Grace Manlove and Miss Grace Jarrett present The meeting was opened with the singing of followed by the Prayer and the At the Red Cross work rooms Mrs James Gilman chairman of surgical dressings Mrs Moore and Mrs Perky gave instructions to the class in the making of four by four compresses yesterday between the hours of two and five It is rather surprising to note that very few local women are interested in this important branch of Red Cross work and it was left largely to visiting women yesterday Six hundred and sixty compresses were finished and wrapped ready for shipping 'Mrs Gilman and Mrs Adams will instruct the class Monday Mrs Perky and Miss Gladys Worden on Tuesday Mrs Shumaker and Mrs James Nugent Club yesterday Mrs Ward talked again on Russia It was decided at this meeting to take up the study of conditions along the western front instead of continuing the Russian studies exclusively Mrs John
