2 Hazleton Standard-Speaker, Tuesday, April 22, 1997 Funerals Marguerite Feathers Marguerite B. Feathers, 76, of 104 W. Union Tamaqua, died Sunday at the home of her Frank A. DeSpirito Frank A. DeSpirito, 79, of Linden, N.J., formerly of Lattimer, died Friday at the Anaburg Manor Nursing Home, Manassas, Va.

Born in Lattimer, he was the son of the late Dominic and Ella (Merala) DeSpirito. During World War II, he served with the Navy in the rank of chief petty "5 officer. He was a member of Argonne Post 6 American Legion, Elizabeth, N.J. Before retiring in 1977, he served for 25 years as a patrolman with the Elizabeth Police Department, Elizabeth, N.J. He was a member of the Elizabeth Police Benevolent Association.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his wife, the former Rita Pittius, who died in 1977, and a daughter, Roxanne Satkosky. Surviving are sons, Ronald Manassas; a brother, Dominic, Hazleton; sisters, Mary Frank, Berwick, and Marie Shema, Nellie Bugda, Millie Maynerick and Palma Lipka, all of Hazleton; and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Higgins and Bonner Funeral Home, 414 Westminster Elizabeth, N.J. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m.

in St. Mary the Assumption R.C. Church, Elizabeth, N.J. Burial will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia, N.J.

Friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Joseph Yurecek Joseph Yurecek, 89, of 640 Maple Ardsley, Montgomery County, died Sunday afternoon at Abington Memorial Hospital. Born in Sheppton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Mehallo) Yurecek. He was a member of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Ardsley.

He was an Army vet-eran of World War II. Before retiring, he was last employed by Master Etching and Machine Shop, Ardsley. Before that, he was employed by the Reading Railroad. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers, George and John Yurecek, and Michael Pizanis, and sisters, Mary Gushen and Anna Stank. Surviving are his wife, the former Reba Kline, nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. from the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Hazleton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St.

Joseph R.C. Church, Sheppton. Burial will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call Wednesday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. Katherine Wiegand Katherine Bainbridge (Sieger) Wiegand, 91, for many years a music teacher for the Hazleton Area School District, died Monday at Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center. She had been a guest at Fritzingertown Senior Living Community, Drums, and was formerly a resident of Con-yngham. She spent most of her life in the Hazleton and Conyngham area.

Born in Mahanoy City, April 12, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Bainbridge) Sieger. She was a 1923 graduate of Mahanoy City High School, attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and received a bachelor's degree in education at Penn State College in 1934. Her years of teaching in Hazleton were primarily at the A.D. Thomas building. She was an accomplished musician and a master bridge player.

She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Conyngham, and a former member of Zion Evangelical Church of Hazleton, where she served as pianist and Sunday school teacher. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband of 46 years, William 1974. He was a salesman for Spaulding Bakery of West Hazleton, and at one time sang with Fred Warings Pennsylva-nians. Surviving are nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Born in Lattimer, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Carmella (Simone) Spadell. She was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton. Before retiring, she worked in area garment factories. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her first husband, Teddy Mosgo, 1968; a brother, Rocco; and a sister, Mary Christino.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph; a daughter, Janice, at home; two grandsons; brothers, Michael and Angelo, both of Lattimer; sisters, Mrs. Angelo (Lucy) Salvaggio and Mrs. Nicholas (Catherine) Botchick, both of Hazleton, and Mrs. Ann Panenko, Dixon City; nieces and nephews. BIG CEMETERY The largest cemetery in the United States is the 612-acre Arlington National Cemetery, situated on the Potomac River in Virginia. cousin, Eleanor Kassander, with whom she lived. Born in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Nora (Kasper) Feathers. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, a member and vice president of the choir, and served as narrator for church programs.

She was also a member of the Tamaqua Business and Professional Women's Club. She was a 1939 graduate of Tamaqua High School and a 1942 graduate of Strayers Business College, Philadelphia. She was employed from 1942 to 1951 by the Army Audit Agency, Philadelphia. She later was employed in the advertising department of the Evening Courier, Tamaqua, and the Times News (1952-84), and retired as advertising manager in 1984. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m.

from Trinity United Church of Christ, Lafayette Street, Tamaqua, with the Rev. David A. Grant officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. There will be no calling hours.

Katherine Masteller Katherine Marie Masteller, 86, of 2261 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, formerly of West Hazleton, died Sunday at Muhlenberg Hospital Center. Born in Nuremberg, she was the daughter of the late W. Edward and Katherine M.

(Yan-nes) Zimmerman. She was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, Bethlehem, and a life member of the National Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She was a graduate of West Hazleton High School and Bloomsburg University. An elementary and kindergarten teacher for 44 years, she taught in the NurembergHazleton area from 1930 to 1946, and in the Bethlehem Area School District from 1946 to 1976. She was an avid gardener.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Royce and brothers, William and Ray Zimmerman. Surviving are her daughter, Karen R. Masteller, Hanover Township; a sister, Dr. Rita Nenstiel, Olney; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m.

Lorenzen, 104, of South Broadway, Tarrytown, N.Y., died Monday in Phelps Memorial Hospital, Sleepy Hollow, N.Y. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Weider) Lorenzen, and was raised in Hazleton. She lived in Allentown, Jackson Heights, and Queens for 60 years before moving to Tarrytown in 1992. She was a graduate of Hazleton High School. She was at one time employed, and retired from, the Duplan Mill, Hazleton, where she worked as a warper.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were brothers, Arthur, Fred, Albert, Robert and Marty, and sisters, Elizabeth, Bertha and Anna. Surviving are a sister, Evelyn Toter, Sarasota, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the, Joseph L. Wroblewski Funeral Home, 1442 Wyoming Forty Fort.

Deisenroth George Leroy Deisenroth of 505 Lansford Court, Lansford, died Sunday morning at his home. Born in Philadelphia, Sept. 11, 1943, he was the son of Anna (Hagelgans) Deisenroth, of Weatherly, and the late William R. Deisenroth. Before taking ill, he was employed by Bob's Lawn and Landscaping of Allentown.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, Weatherly. He was an Air Force veteran of 12 years, hav-ing served in the Philip-' pines and Vietnam. He attained the rank of staff sergeant. He was past commander of the Coaldale American Legion Post. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Ann Bartol; daughters, Tina and Jamie, both at home; a son, Eric, also at home; a brother, William, Williamsport; sisters, Mrs.

Daniel (La-May) Jones of White Haven, and Mrs. John (Nancy) Cosgrove, Weatherly; nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, Weatherly.

at the funeral home. Helen Prochko Helen Prochko, 94, formerly of Berner Avenue, Hazleton, died late Sunday evening at St. Luke Manor. Born in Ebervale, she was the daughter of the late John and Susan (Szeherak) Haburshock. She was a member of St.

Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Joseph, who died in 1984; brothers, Joseph, John, Peter and Michael; sisters, Anna Dempsey, Susan Sokol and Mary Skasko; a son, Joseph, Bound Brook, N.J.; a daughter, Eleanor Nemchick, three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Frank J. Bonin Funeral Home Hazleton.

Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Moran was born Sept. 3, 1926, a son of the late Thomas J. and Anna Kennedy Moran. Moran dedicated most of his life to education and journalism, having served on the faculties of Wilkes College, Duquesne University, King's College and LCCC.

He served two terms as president of LCCC, the first from 1980 to 1990, then a second term following the resignation of former president Donald Bron-sard two years ago. At the time of his death, he also was serving as LCCC's chief administrator and education.
