PAGE TEN Top Horseshoe Pitching Champions Of 14 Slates To Compete At fair Top horseshoe pitching champions from 14 eastern and New England states have enrolled in the Eastern National Horseshoe Tournament to be held Clearfield from August 1 to 4 as part of the Clearfield County Fair. More than 200 contestants are expected to pitch 100 shoes each in the qualifications being held on the first three days of the tournament and the morning of the final tournament day. Each contestant, after pitching his 100 hoiseshoes, will coun- the highest 50 in his final point total in trying for the tournament finals. The 18 players with the highest scores will be in the tournament finals Saturday afternoon.

Mr. Carson has the eputation of being the only man pitch 50 consecutive ringers while qualifying for a state lournament. Mr.

In the world tournament that year Mr. Jones posted an average of 90 percent ringers in 13 pitched games. Other state champions ftnter- the tournament include Klmgan of Pennsylvania, Vich- ettie of Connecticut, Frye of Virginia: Lemke of Indiana, Anderson of West Virginia, Dale Carson of Maryland and Tommy Brownell of Amsterdam, N.

Y. Mr. Brownell was fourth place winner the 1949 world tournament. The tournament is being conducted by Harold S. Gamble of Pittsburgh, state secretary of the National Horseshoe Pitching Association.

Ann Cucksey co-starred with Lorraine Miller and Steve Biodie in the recently-released moving picture "It's a Small World. Ten tiny men and women sing, dance play musical instruments and offer comedy numbers that please the entire family. Their 1951 show is new and different packed with fun.
