SUGAR ESTABLISH MENT DESIGXATED THE VICTORIA NEW TEA ESTABLISHMENT No 73 DAME STREET DUBLIN WILL BE OPENED On SATURDAY the Uth of NOVEMBER inst Distinguished by an Illuminated Crown Chinese Lamps and an exquisite Representation of Palm Trees 18 6 fPEA having become an important item in the JL domestic expenditure of every class in society it has latterly by puffing Tea Dealers been made to attract more of public attention than any other article and the quality of Tea being more intrinsically the teat of its value than the price paid for it and the great majority of the Public not being competent to judge of the quality of Tea in its raw state those dexterous puffing Tea Dealers have made low prices the invariable theme of alluring and fallacious statements and addresses to delude the Public into the belief of pecu niary gain by purchasing cheap Tea whilst the reverse was and is the fact for by testing the matter fairly low price Teas will be found to be the dearest to the consumers It has been the practice of London Tea Dealers who to use their own words make Dublin sphere of tbeir to impress upon the Public the beneficial effect of competition in Trade and their object in locating here has been more with the view of serving the Public by saving them from being plundered In the price of Tea by the Irish Tea Dealers than to enrich themselves and Id proof of their philanthropy they declared that one penny per pound was all the profit they would seek on the sale of Teas in order to insure quick and large Notwithstanding those plausible and seductive profes sions and that the Tea market has been during many months steafdy in prices the price of Teas in those puffing establishments have been as variable as the wind or in stance a penny a pound pr ofit gentleman has lately on finding that he was about to have a competitor for the penny at once publicly proclaimed a reduction of nine pence per pound on the price of his Tea If he had only one penny per pound profit is it credible that he would abat nine pence and if his profits enabled him to abate nine pence per pound ought not those who had been theretofore paying him such exorbitant profit reasonably expect to have an equal sum per pound on their purchases refunded to them Another new feature in the science of artifice presents itself in two formidable Tea Establishments in the locality of Dame street A particular quality of a leading article of consumption is sold in them not only at no profit but at a sacrifice of a portion of the cost price What the object is of adopting such a system the Public can form a judg ment Is it not a reasonable conclusion that it is done with a view to decoy and insidiously induce to the purchase of other articles at large profits and manifestly if such be the object it cannot be that fair competition or fair trade from which the Public were promised unprecedented ad vantages The Public is thus assured that in conducting the above new native Establishment delusive artifices to effect sales will not be adopted It will be for the sale of Merchan dize on Commission No Teas will be admitted but in ori ginal unopened packages the quality of which as well as that of Coffee will be duly examined sa that no spurious or adulterated Tea or Coffee will bo in the Establishment and the various qualities of every article in it will be sold for cash only at as low prices as fair Trade will possiblv ad mit of A day in each week ill be publicly announced for opeuing and testing the qualities of original packages of Tea for the satisfaction of purchasers and riday the 10th inst will in the first instance be the day A sepa rate apartment is prepared for samples of goods in bond and testing quality of Tea I Country Dealers will find this Establishment worthy of their attention us a variety of samples of Goods in bond will be ready for their inspection which will bs sold as low as the markets will admit of and Retailers of Tea who buy in less quantity than a Chest shall have same advantages as if they bought a Chest The Citizens of Dublin in particular and the Public in general are respectfully solicited to give a trial to this new native Establishment as a fair trial and comparison is the only true test by which to determine whether other Establishments or it will give them the fairest and most creditable value for money And as a permanent Estab lishment on such a scale is the chief object of the Pro prietor the Public may rest assured that such assiduity and diligeut attention tor their interests shall be used as to renderthis Establishment worthj of their Patronage riciiard madden Nov? 6th 1843 73 Dame street Diocese of Ahonry: rom the parishes of Clonoghill and Kiltor row per Mr Ambrose Cunningham Moyrush Miss
