county agent will suggest to the board a plan of procedure which he believes will greatly increase the livestock industry At the present time the average yield an acre for corn in the county is less than 10 bush els If the corn production can be increased in a substantial manner there will be an automatic increase in the livestock program This has been the result in all localities where the program has been carried out The plan that is being suggested to the directors is that an appropriation of $100 be made to be divided into prizes to be awarded to the farm ers taking first second Special to The Observer NEWTON Feb 9 Testimony was begun late today after the selection of a jury from a special venire of 60 men in the case of first degree murder against Wood row and Marshall Johnson broth ers of Hickory The two young men are charged with the fatal slashing last Christmas Eve of John Guthrie Hickory barber who was killed in front of his barber shop Guthrie was cut after he
