aroi -301 THE SUCCESS OF OUR BUSINESS IS MEASURED BY YOUR SATISFACTION MOORE CADILLAC CO. 3455 E. MARKET ST. Weiskopf Is Leading Pack With 68 At Atlanta ATLANTA, May 31, UPI, Tom Weiskopf, the long-belting Park yesterday towinjheninth golfer who many are fitting into Jack Nicklaus mold, doesnt know how much longer he has before he has to pack away his clubs and answer a call to arms. Playing on a week-to-week basis while he waits to hear from his draft board, Weiskopf figures he doesnt have any time to waste; hed better grab as much golf cash now as he can since it probably will be a while before he gets another chance.

With this thought tucked in the back of his mind, the rangy, 25-year-old Weiskopf took a one-stroke lead into the second round of the Atlanta Golf Classic today as he goes after the first prize that would make him the years leading money winner. Hes earned nearly 486,000 already since January and the only golfer ahead of him for the year is Billy Casper who has more than 04,000 but who isnt playing here this week. Weiskopf, gaining his edgejQ with an eagle-3 on the next to1 last hole, 'shot a 4-under-par 68 in yesterdays opening round of this $115,000 tournament. That gave him an uneasy stroke lead over a logjam of seven runners-up that included the ever-threatening Nicklaus himself as well as P. G.

A. champion Don January, Tommy Aaron, Chris Blocker, Ray Floyd, B.ert Yancey and Eldridge Miles, ajformer stockbroker who didnt even have a spot in the tournament until virtually the last minute. Two Strokes Back Another stroke back at 2-under-par 70s were Bob Lunn and Monty Kaser, the 1-2 finishers in last weeks Memphis Open, along with 6-foot-6 George Archer who has earned nearly this year and Lee Trevino whos earned half that much. There were plenty of disappointments in the opening round as only 16 of the 144 starters! were able to break par. Arnold Palmer had a 76 and, complaining again about his hip, hinted he might withdraw, Gary Player was five strokes off the pace with a 73 and Doug Sanders, a native Georgian and gallery favorite, had a 75.

The field will be trimmed to the low 70 scorers and ties at the end of todays round. The final two rounds tomorrow and Sunday will be nationally Bay Colt Lives Up to Name; Stretch Run Captures Jersey Derby CHERRY HILL, N. May 31, UPI King Ranchs Out Of The Way cut loose with a strong stretch run at Garden State running of the $134,000 Jersey Derby by two and one-half lengths. The dark bay colt, second in the Preakness Stakes in his last race, came from sixth place with a strong rush to win his initial stakes and haul down a winners purse of $87,555. Captains Gig and Iron Ruler went to the front at the start of the V' mile race and battled head and head for the lead for a mile.

Joining Gonzales in the fourth round were three renowned Australian pros, current world champion Rod Laver, Ken Rose-wall and Roy Emerson. Laver overcame some early difficulty to beat Greek Davis Cupper Nickolas Kalogeropoulos, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. 6-1; Rosewall, the winner of the worlds first open tounrament at Bournemouth, England, last month, routed compatriot Colin Stubbs, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0; and Emerson also eliminated a fellow Australian, Barry Phillips-Moore, 12-10, 6-1, 6-1.
