You're always welcome doubt that McGraw is planning complete reorganiation for his club for next year, but an unexpected obstacle has' arisen.

Most all of the present players especially the veterans are under three-year contracts at high salaries. These contracts were made iron-bound so that they could not. be broken by the players who might get notions about the Federal League. This ironbound clause also tied up the owners, and the question arises as to how McGraw is going to get rid of these men "when he starts his "reorganization. Of course they can be sold or transferred by trade, but in any event lence at and will undoubtedly strengthen the line.

He has played, two years on the "reserves under Peacock and Lewis and two years on the varsity. He weighs around 20 pounds and knows the game well. Ninelle, a first year man, is being groomed for a line berth, and varsity signals have been given him and he is likely to be used against North Carolina and Virginia. Inman Knox, an Atlanta boy, has been given the varsity signals. Knox is fast and a good defensive man.

There are also many other first ear men who are likely to be used in the games outside the S. I. A. A. The North Carolina game is causing much worry to the Red and Blacn camp.

The Blue and White has played four games this season. In these four games they have amassed Na total of 216 points. First down has been made against them five, times. In' these five times their opponents haven't scored in the" first half and "only in the South Carolina game has the varsity survived through the first quarter showing that all the first downs were made against the' scrubs. Leaving the hill this afternoon with the squad will be Mebane Long and Valley.

Joining the squad here tonight will be Ed. Reid. These three Charlotte boys while net regulars in the strict sense of the word are varsity caliber and of them have missed a single game this season. Long holds down in great style his position on the outermost, end of the line. Valley pilots the team from quarter back while Reid plays a backfield.

In last Saturday's game against South Carolina he started the game at a half and the engagement was featured by his hard and consistent line plunging. Tomorrow's game, therefore, will be of especial interest to Charlotte lovers of the sport, first, because their University will be hooking up in a great game with one of the strongest teams in the south, and, second, because the Queen City will be represented by three of it's loyal sons. Last year the score iwas 13 to 3 in favor of the Tar Heels. Two years ago the annual duel resulted in a tie 6 to all scoring being by the drop kick route. The State University boys have a powerful line this year.

In four games first down has been made against them only five times, and three of those were by the Baptists. South Carolina did not make the required ten 3rards a single time. Richmond College and the Virginia Medicoes both managed the feat once. At no time has first down been made "against Carolina in the first half, which means that practically none of the first team was in the game. In reporting the game last Monday week between the Giants and the Phillies the New York Tribune pays this tribute to the "ex-Carolina Leaguer: "Harry Smith, of Savannah, came off the bench yesterday and showed why the fans of the south voted him a medal as the best all around player in the league. He caught in 'pleasing fashion and made two hits. It may be remarked that one of these was a bunt.

Meyers and McLean are both splendid catchers, but a rooter will only sprain his mind if he tries to remember the afternoon on which either one of them bunted his way to first." Harry Smith's rise is due largely to Manager Clancy. The shrewd leader of the Twins picked this man up after he had been discarded, and made a great catcher out of him. He caught every game the Twins played in 1913 and his work aided materially in copping the bunting for the Smith worked in only a game or two for the Giants. He will go south with the squad next season and bids fair to get in a goodly portion of the games. McGraw is more or less disgusted with contracts the same contracts being devoid of the ten day clause.

Richmond College has played both Carolina and men survived the first quarter. The Tar Heels leave Chapel Hill this afternoon. Instead of returning after the game the team will remain in Georgia until Vanderbilt game in Nashville on ithe 24th. Special to The News. Wake Forest, Oct. 16.

To date Wake Forest has played two scheduled football games, losing the first one to the heavy A. M. team 53 to and winning from the Trainingshtp Franklin 13 to 0. A practice game was played in Durham during the fair with Carolina and was lost by the same score as the A. M.

game. Wake Forest did not play her best men in this game for it was only two days before the scheduled game with the Trainingship Franklin. Wake Forest meets Carolina in their annual game in Rajeigh November 14th, and tnere will be a decided difference the score from the exhibition game. Wake Forest has no game Saturday, but on Saturday week they go up against one of the best teams in the South, Washington and Lee. To date Washington and Lee has amassed a total of 196 points 'and they are after the record this year.

Just how bad they will defeat Wake Forest cannot be predicted yet, last year the score was 33 to 0 in favor of the Generals, Wake -Forest will present fully as 'strong a lineup against them this year as they did last year. Following the Washington and Lee game Wake Forest meets' Roanoke College on the home field. They then go to Columbia and meet the Gamecocks. Following this game the Uni Virginia and there's hardly enough left to tell the tale. This is Wofford's first year in football and a football team 'can't be built in one season.
