area Sunday, October 5, 1997 5C Counny Two members of Paris French Toastmasters will advance in to division competition next week in humorous speech and table topics. Cheryl LaRue of Brookston and Johnna McNeal of Paris won first place Sept. 21 during the Area 41 contest featuring the Paris club, Bon Hams Toastmasters and East Texas Toastmasters of Commerce. "Belles and Beaus Southern Culture" was Mrs. LaRue's speech topic.

Mrs: McNeal won best impromptu response to the question "Is clipping coupons worth the time?" Other contestants in humorous governor, of Richardson. The officials have earned various certifications within the Toastmasters organization. Plains division District 50 competition will be held in Garland Thursday. Paris French Toastmasters meet the first and third Wednesdays at noon at the YWCA. Guests are welcome.

Bon Ham Toastmaslers meet awards first and third Thursdays at noon at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Center. East Texas Toastmasters meet first and third Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Bank One building. Toastmasters is an international organization that cultivates professional and personal communication skills. Meetings include speeches and practice in business etiquette.

V-VUMCIV LaRue receives her trophy as winner in the Area competition. Ken Daily, middle, area governor, was 5 Humorous event toastmaster. Presenting the trophy was TM district governor speech were Russell Albert of Jerry Clark. Mrs. LaRue is a member of the Paris French Toasrmasters.

Paris and Bob Old of Telephone. Competing in table topics were Barbara Foster of Paris, Sarah Richardson of Telephone, Daniel Darden of Commerce and Roger Steemari of Commerce. Members from the three clubs participated as time keepers and sergeants-at-arm. Ken Dailey, area governor, was event Joast- master. Chief judge of the International Toastmasters sanctioned event was Bob Lanz, a TM district governor, of Dallas.
