I CO THE YORK DISPATCH WEDNESDAY AUGUST 21 1991 PIES Chocolate pudding cake recipe sent in Diane Schmitt 2 cups all-purpose flour teaspoon salt Va cup vegetable shortening 3 tablespoons ice water 1 tablespoon peach or apricot preserve (Follow directions for crust above) Pie Filling: 5 cups peaches peeled and sliced y3 cup sugar 1 box peach jello 2 tablespoons apricot jello 3A cup sugar 2 tablespoons corn starch 2 tablespoons flour 2 cups water 1 tablespoon butter or margarine In large bowl combine peaches and Vs cup sugar Set aside In medium size pan combine jello cup sugar corn starch and flour Add water Mix and cook for two minutes stirring while cooking Add peaches and cook additional two minutes stirring well Let cool Turn into pastry lined dish Dot with butter Cover and cut slits in top crust Seal edges Brush top crust with milk and dust with sugar Bake in preheat 400 degree oven for 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown Serve with whipped cream or ice cream rooms in their original container in the refrigerator and bulk mushrooms in a paper lunch bag The bag allows them to breathe so stay fresh longer store mushrooms in plastic they will deteriorate quickly because they cannot breathe Clean mushrooms with a damp cloth or rinse quickly in cool water do not soak them since their porous nature absorbs liquid quickly Fresh mushrooms never need peeling Snacking between meals is now a for children says Dr William Dietz director of clinical nutrition New England Medical Center Boston "Rapidly growing and developing bodies of children require enormous amounts of energy but their stomachs are small so they cannot fill up on all of the energy they might need at mealtimes Nutritious snacks fruits and vegetable sticks should be kept on hand for snacking Need a recipe from past?
