The project got started around the holidays in 2011 when Maureen Mc-Guigan, who owns the Petaluma Mail Depot, heard Tom Waits song Georgia Lee on a local radio station and later learned that it was written about a young girl McGuigan knew. The nude, strangled corpse of Moses was found in August 1997 alongside Highway 101 and Petaluma Boulevard South.

The murder remains unsolved. After hearing the song, McGuigan took some friends, among them Kit Lofroos, to a roadside memorial, marked by the angel sculpture and surrounded by some trees, where Moses body was found. After a few visits to clean up the site, which had become overgrown with weeds and strewn with debris, the women found a note saying the sculpture needed to be relocated because of the pending highway inter- See, GEORGIA, page A5 can also be turned in at the Veterans Memorial Building in Petaluma on the following days only: Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4 between 10 a m.
