On the contrary she dismisses actors who are concerned with such trivial pursuits dismissing them bores it wouldn't sell a ticket if I were standing there thinking about the Carol Channing image I'm sure it wouldn't It would be terribly boring Don't you agree?" The legendary performercomedian spoke graciously often with surprising seriousness from New York where she stopped last week to inaugurate a yearlong Broadway celebration of "100 Years in Times Square" The kickoff at the Shubert Theatre on Wednesday featured a variety of stars Miss Channing delivered a vintage By Nancy Melich THE SALT LAKE TRIBUNE Carol Channing doesn't have an image problem More precisely she doesn't have an image Or could it be she has never concerned herself with such matters? The Broadway with the doe eyes wide smile and platinum blonde wigs is startled at the mere suggestion "Me Ohhhh no" she says with the familiar Channing don't think there is a Carol Channing image I'm probably wrong but I always dedicate myself to the character I'm playing Lorelei Lee from 'Gentleman Prefer Blondes was the cutest littlest babiest flapper of the '20s and certainly a far cry from Dolly Gallagher Levi!
