The people who make movies like "Three Men and a Baby" think about such questions They are banking on three appealing male stars and two adorable babies The combination works but only occasionally All-star trio makes all-American film HOLLYWOOD (UPD Jessica Lange Dennis Quaid and Timothy Hutton are starring in All-American" a Warner Bros drama being produced and directed by Taylor Hackford The story deals with 25 years in the lives of three longtime friends an All-American football hero (Quaid) his college sweetheart (Lange) and his admiring nephew (Hutton) whose lives intertwine from the 1950s through the earlv 1980s Football sequences will be filmed at Louisiana State University acting career she decides time for him to take his turn at nurturing "Three Men" takes forever to introduce its characters and their situation Director Nimoy seems to be using a stop watch to give each actor his due screen time in the opening reel a drawn-out account of birthday party in which each of the main characters displays his abilities at charming women Once the introductions are over the movie hits its stride but only for a while Jack leaves for a six-week film shoot in Turkey giving Michael instructions that a will be dropped off at the penthouse and someone will be by to pick it up a few days later Actually two packages arrive an infant girl named Mary is left on their doorstep in the morning and in the afternoon a small package containing a small fortune in heroin arrives And so begins a story about an adorable little girl who gets caught up in a plot involving drug dealers and two dumbfounded bachelors who haven't a clue to what's going on The movie's best moments are the scenes with Selleck and Guttenberg as their characters attempt to understand what it takes to meet an infant's needs For Selleck Men and a Baby" represents a breakthrough as he successfully plays a sensitive character who is quite different from his persona cultivated on television's Guttenberg loo is likable as the least successful of the trio at wooing women and the one who is completely won over by Mary Danson on the other hand is less than appealing here playing a character who is so self-absorbed that he has no concept of the responsibilities fatherhood brings Jack supposedly undergoes a transformation through Custom Clubs by Wellyn Koontz at The Image lonnmf Badissor 6oq ''MKurntta VwrCMh tindr Adult Only Hollywood contrivances that you know exactly what's going to happen and when Three Men and a Baby" la one of those movies which seems to be concocted in some corporate office of Touchstone Pictures It offers the 'dream" cast of Tom Selleck Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson in the roles of three very eligible bachelors who share a lavish New York penthouse Their night lives deteriorate rapidly when they discover a baby on their doorstep While they suffer through on-the-job experiences of learning how to feed and care for a baby they eventually become quite enamored of the little girl w-ho enters their lives Selleck is Peter a successful architect Guttenberg is Michael a syndicated cartoonist Danson is Jack a second-rate actor who has vowed never to act in another commercial again Mary the infant played by twins Lisa and Michelle Blair belongs to Jack She is the result of a liaison he had when performing on stage in London Her mother never bothered to tell Jack that she was pregnant Now wanting to get serious about her own CONTACT1LENSES immm wear SOFT CONTACTS INCLUDING C130Q EYE EXAM!
