6C The Salt Lake Tribnne Thursday July 30 1987 A night of magic with Crosby Stills and Nash A horrific film journey to dark side of men war a chilling look at covert operation (and maybe the most beautiful song of the night) and Time For The Generals foreboding view of the Central Intelligence Agency were met with tremendous applause Are these guys dinosaurs? Hardly They may look older but the music they made outdoors at ParkWest Tuesday was as valid as current and as refreshing as anything today Hats off to Pepsi PM Magazine and Unit- ed Concerts for a memorable show A Song Before I and as well as a knockout version of What Worth (Stop Hey That The threesome backed by a seasoned foursome that included drummer Joe Vitale sang with reckless abandon The harmonies were deliciously integrated with Crosby Stills and then Nash taking the lead vocal as the tune dictated Stills made up for any slight wavers in his voice with some of the tastiest guitar licks heard in these parts The former Buffalo Springfield member and ex-Super Session musician displayed chops galore cutting a wide swath with his electric leads His powerful solo on was a highlight of the concert Perhaps the most surprising aspect of show was the quick acceptance by the huge crowd of new material Because the stuff was so good people picked right up on it Of Peace a telling tale about the evils of war Land nroaimitlflnafilirail IffljBitatrarer By Tom McCarthey Tribune Staff Writer PARKWEST It quite Woodstock Tuesday night at Park-West Resort but it came awfully close Crosby Stills Nash retrieved some of that old magic with a sizzling two-set show that had 10000 fans screaming for more Concert review They played old favorites that thrilled one generation and they played brand new tunes that chilled another generation The haunting rendition of may have been its best ever But who could argue with any of the material they sang After all songs such as Time Gone Your Children and sounded great CSN looked like a band reincarnated All three looked healthy wealthy and wiser than they have in light years Even Crosby the one time bad boy looked like a contented walrus as he lectured on the evils of drugs and bantered with the audience but Happening Today Kei Take) artistic director of New York's Moving Earth Dance Company and guest artist at Rlrle-Woodbury Dance Company summer workshop Snowbird Pavilion Stage Snowbird Resort 7 pm Program: Kel Takel will perform "Pine Cone Field" from "Light Part 14" and Take!
