Rolling Stones Still searching for some satisfaction Main Street album. Some Girls is full of parody. In Far Away Eyes," the band takes a poke at country western music and its preoccupation with Pentacostal religion. I was drillin' home early Sunday momin' listenin' to gospel music on the radio and the preacher was ayin', "you know that the Lord is always on your side "Sol ran twenty stop lights in his honor thunk you Jesus, thank you Lord This song is particularly well done because the music is good, tight country western Mick and Keith have been listening to some Hank Williams. The Rolling Stones are not always trying to startle their audience Of all the people that have recorded Imagination" the Stones version has to be one of the best the song was tailor made for Jaggers voice although it is the only song on the album that Richards and Jagger did not write.

On Some Girls the Rolling Stones continue to be brutal, coarse, and indecent How can anybody like this music? Its easy. This bawdy frankness is refreshing in its own way The tough raw lyrics are so overt and overstated that they become stylized smut. Somehow, they turn ugly into elegant. The problem with Kenny Loggins on his new album Nightwateh is that he is afraid to get his hands dirty. Nightwateh is so polished, so void of spontaneity, that it reeks of studio retakes.

Loggins is hiding in the control booth on this album The title song, an easy listening number, begins the album. Dubbed in is a recording of wind, which comes and goes throughout the song. The song is about dreams and this is Loggins way of making it obvious. The next number, Easy Driver" is one of the best on the album. It swings and is free and easy.

Here Loggins sounds like he might be having some fun. Somebody Knows and Down and Dirty are two numbers in which Loggins attempts to sound loose and spontaneous. It doesnt work The chords are simple and repetitive there is no experimenting, no going out on a limb. The song with the most potential is Whenever I Call You Friend. Fleetwood Macs Stevie Nicks joins Loggins for some good harmony.

But once again, Loggins is up to his control room shenanigans. He distorts the vocals at the beginning of the song, apparently trying to achieve some sort of meaningful nuance. After this, though, the song turns out to be quite nice. Nightwateh is too clean. Whatever happened to the Kenny Loggins who had such a good time singing Vahevella and Your Mama Dont Dance with his buddy Jim Messina? lv Terry Orme Tribune Staff Writer It has been about 15 years since Mick Jagger sang: I cant get no satisfaction.

After all these years it seems that he still hasnt found much, if any at all. On their new album, Some Girls, the Rolling Stones are still the angry, wild, and sometimes insulting band they were back when those were novel elements in a rock band. And unlike the many bands that have followed in their wake, they can still tear into the guts of a theme and maintain a degree of savvy at the same time. Simply said: Nobody does what the Stones do better than the Stones themselves (although many try and theyve been doing it best for a long time But more importantly, they are still doing it. In Some Girls they are as tough and biting as ever.

The Stones dont tolerate peoples self indulgence a persons vanity is something to kick and gouge. Respectable deals with a "high society lady. Jaggers sneering voice drones: "So respectable, so respectable, so delectable, get her out of my sight. It is in songs like this that the Stones become mean. The song is reminiscent of the Aftermath album with its Stupid Girl and Under My Thumb.

Here the Stones are at their offensive best For better, or for worse, women get the brunt of this cynicism. But it is possibly more of a reflection on society in general than on the Stones in particular Consciously or not, they are making an important comment on the mentality of a culture. There are similarities with old Stones on this album. Before They Make Me Run, featuring Keith Richards on vocal, begins almost identically to Brown Sugar. The final song, Shattered, sounds like a muted All Down the Line off the Exile On Mick Jagger, lead singer for the Rolling Stones, is still singing some angry, wild, and sometimes insulting tunes which are reminiscent of the band earlier years.
