The beautiful gold and yellow-leaved tree near Felton has been identified as a hickory tree. It did arrive in Felton many years ago in a railroad shipment from the East, and it was planted by Joseph Aram, the father of Mrs. Elsie Sayre. He was Felton railroad station agent at the time, she said.

For others who wish to see the tree here are a few directions. (The Sentinel has had many calls and even a few visitors, about this tree): Go up Graham Hill Road and go past Roaring Camp, slow down, and almost opposite the entrance to Santa Cruz Lumber Company you will see the tree. It stands in a small vee-shaped area of trees and bushes, between the road and the railroad tracks. This was the site of the pioneer Dunstone home (Mrs. Aram was a Dunstone).

Since publication of the "tree story" two weeks ago in The Sentinel, two more hickory trees have turned up in Santa Cruz. They are in the yard of Mr. and Mrs. William F. Dillon, 312 Poplar Street, and are over 40 years old, according to Mrs.
