and Mrs. J. L. Davidson, will teach English in the Olathe high school next year. Mips Gunn, of Ottawa, has that position this term.

Miss Davidson is a graduate of the Kansas University, and for the past five years has held the position of English tpacher in thv Dodge City high school, where she was reelected this year, at a. salary of $100 per month. As her parents live here this will be much more convenient for her, although the salary is $5.00 less per month. Miss Davidson takes special work every summer, last year taking a course in Wisconsin. He has been getting up when the roosters crow, and they refused to crow an hour earlier than usual and he has been "turning out" when the sun casts his shadow almost directly north. He hasn't yet been able to determine just where his shadow should be at 11 o'clock. Percy Kellogg, Stanley banker, drove over Tuesday afternoon for Third Liberty Loan supplies. The annual school meeting will be held next Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Those of this neighborhood who took examinations at Pleasant View last Saturday were, Edith Schumacher, Eulah Floray, and Bernice Haskin. The annual school meeting and basket dinner will be held April 12, at Mt. Zion school. Mr. and Mrs.

Sitterman and daughter, Edith, attended services at the Lutheran church Sunday evening. Miss Mary England, Mr. Earl Goodloe and Mr. Cecil Griffitts spent Sunday evening with Miss Glenco Brimblecorn. Miss Edith Schumacher spent Wednesday evening with Caroline Schwarz.

Several ladies of this neighborhood have been on the sick list, having attended the Lutheran Aid's society meeting at Mrs. Oehringer's when they were poisoned by eating chicken pie which was said to have stood over night in a kettle. "Mr. Earl Goodloe returned from Oswego Friday evening. Miss Bertha Cosgrove taught several days at Mt.

Zion school last week, as Miss Edna Miles has been on the sick list. Mrs. Henry Schumacher transacted business in Olathe last Wednesday. Mrs. M.

J. Baden was an Olathe visitor last Wedensday. Most everyone of this neighbor hood saw the parade in Olathe last Saturday. CRAIG. Mrs.

church delivered a rousing sermon on the war to an enthusiastic audience Sunday evening. The feature of the program was a group of six hymns sung in unison by the choir and congregation. These hymns are the six most popular ones chosen by our boys in the Y. M. C.

A. camps throughout France and the U. S. It is said by the Chaplains and priests of the army that when a soldier faceg the eternal world inevitably he thinks of death, God and the judgment. These hymns symbolize that thought: Probably most of us will recognize old favorites in "Rock of 'Where Is My Wandering Boy Tonight?" "Jesus Lover of My "Abide WTith Me" "I Need Thee Every and "Lead Kindly Light." While the big Liberty Bond drive is on don't forget the babies.

The families of Walter Moore and Will Lawson attended the funeral of Howard McKee in Olathe last week. Mr. and Mrs. Vesper Couch and Mr. and Mrs.

M. Moll of Olathe were Sunday evening callers at the Richard Varnes home. Miss Hazel Johnson attended church in Olathe Sunday, and spent the remainder of the day with her aunt, Mrs. Cal Reno. Howard Anderson and Miss Lo-rene Burdette attended the play in Gardner last Thursday night, given by the Senior class of the G.

H. S. Frank Redinger, in company with the John Walters family of Lenexa, motored to Camp Funston Friday, and spent Saturday with Albert Walters, who is in camp there. Mr. and Mrs.
